I should have asked here before I posted in the mount section. Are mounts going to just be extensions of the unit, a horse adds speed and some attack bonus, maybe a charge bonus with lance... bear adds extra maul attack and massive toughness and damage bonus.... sky shark adds a tone of speed and an extra high damage attack. Add barding to mount for + defense to the unit or are mounts going to opperate as their own sub-unit: they have their own hi

Of course, now another thing comes up. The way that frogboy showed it, it made it sound like it was all 1 unit with mount being in the same catigory as swords and armor. Extra attacks, and maybe some added defense and speed is all it would give in such case I imagine. Do we give that bonus to the unit as a whole or does the mount act on its own? If it acts on its own, we have to decide how to focus attacks upon it. Is damage automati
Also, draw the horse! We promise not to laugh.
yeah, and you can/should put your horse into the 'draw your mount' thread started by flyguy. I mean we have a scribble that I think is a bear, and I cannot imagine that your horse is not at least of that quality.
I don't think any of us want me trying to draw a horse
oh I beg to differ. I'd love to see you try to draw a horse. I made an edit to my earlier post about the column 3 idea... I thought I could sneak it in before anybody would respond. So if you didn't catch the mention of a filtering system, you might want to glance again.

I assume mounts is one of the things that would be in colomn 3 with 'sword' and such. (wintersong's joke about low-end machines seeing the game as pen-on-graph paper is funny to me. +1 karma for joke) I like how each piece has its own production time, so if it is easy for you to pump out swords, bam you have swords. If it is easy for you to train bears, you can have a lot of bears. This is really awesome. I think it makes a lot more sense now that

Well, we have to remember that the AI's need to be tracked like players. Like, not just path finding and such (which is not memory at ALL and pretty much 100% your processor) but seeing how a player-computer would react could use a bit of memory. It has to know quickly what not only all of its resources are, what it can and cannot see, and what new things it can do, but also it should have a list of recent actions (which is where the memory is). For example, l

If there is a honor mechanic, I'd want other wizards to treat you accordingly. If you have high honor, the wizards that don't nessicarily want to hulk smash everything in sight (the aggresive personalities are allowed to pick fights with others for no real reason) would notice who is the honorable wizard, and maybe be less anxious about when an army walks buy. Because he knows the other wizard is honorable and things like breaking a wizard pack without warning would lower th

on the subject of age the channel spends taking over the world(s) I actually want to have a strong variable for how many turns can be expected. the difference between the different game speeds in Civ 4 makes Civ 4 such a great game, in my opinion. I love playing marathon games (1000+ turns) which I think is close to how MoM was back in the day (I always recall the game being many hundreds or even thousands of turns) but I like playing by e-mail as well, in such

I imagine it moving similarly to the boar demon from the begining of 'Princess mononoke' (BTW, I LOVE wizards)
not for kids
WHAT!? I totally watched that movie as a kid :D what about filling faries full of bullets isn't for kids? I mean hitler is a message the whole family can enjoy. Its got lovable characters like the homicidal assassin robot 'peace' and an almost naked fairy.

I noticed this emblem was missing from the above list. It was part of the full list by frogboy (I resized it of course) and maybe this is just me... but I feel like the 'official' avatars should be above my 'musings' rather than below. Like I know its in semi-chronological order, but I feel... egocentric by being above frogboy's emblems.</

As I mentioned, I would draw the 'strange earthy elemental' thing that I wanted to see in the game. So here I go. I did draw this, yes ^_^ I tried to come something almost close to the style of some of the art we already have (except their artist are payed money to make it much more detailed and with a background, which I am not) enjoy. (I have since decided I want to create mounts for all 5 elements ^_^. fire is probebly n

well, in civilization IV, you can pay to upgrade units. They keep their EXP and such (so a vetran unit stays a vetran unit, and one that has a perm-bonus to speed or attack keeps its bonuses), perhaps it will be similar here. It would keep them from becoming 100% obsolete
I think in this 64-bit world, the AI is gonna be pretty state of the art.
yeah, maybe. I've only done so-so AI programing, and its mostly algorythims for pathing and such. That is more number crunching then memory. I had one that did different responces, and basically it would go through what was typed to the AI and pick out key words and phrases, then search its own data base for responces. Again, mostly number crunching with trou

I'm impartial to squad experiance. MoM had it, HoMM did not. I think this probebly will. It has so much unit customization, that I would not be surprised if they even have a special model for some sort of squad officer. Personally I do not think the officer should level up by himself. But the whole unit together. I know it seems logical to move vetrans around to train weaker troops, but I don't really thing it needs to be that complex.

I personally think that if anything could rival a channeler, it could be a dragon. I mean dragons are always renouned super beings. That being said, certainly since you can only get 1 channeler, I would be upset if dragons were ase powerful as channelers AND you could get more than 1. If they were super hard to get, then that would be fine.

I personally think that weather effects would be really cool. Like Lord reliant suggests, you could get a skill or ability as a channeler that might let you predict the weather (maybe the ones that choose the meteorician skill at the begining of the game will know what the next day's weather will be) I see some ideas for spells too Rain mastery > increases chance of rain in area + provides boosts to some water spells Storm call >&nbsp
Likewise, it seems the provisional government starbase upgrade just doesn't work at all right now... you can bomb a planet out from under an upgraded starbase. It's probably intended to stop both bombardment and rebellion, but neither works at the moment.
That is what confused me. because I was like "I took out planets under starbases by bombarding I thought" but its a bug. That makes sense.

I found them to be very useful as defensive weapons but terrible as offensive weapons. This is especially true since they will chain to your pre-defined light towers and basically work as range extenders. So they become really powerful early game.
