I also have this problem. I installed the full version of Impulse, but it solved nothing. It still says "Server not responding, please check your internet connection." I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP1.
I have pointer trails (and pointer shadow) disabled anyways. As I said before, it fixed it when i disabled the option "Enable Hardware Mouse" in all my other games. Is there an option like this in Sins, or another way to fix the mouse? It's an "HID-compliant mouse", or an optical mouse.
During Sins of a Solar Empire, the mouse cursor constantly flickers whenever I move the mouse, and completely disappears when I'm not moving it. I've managed to fix this problem in most of my other games by unchecking the option that says "Enable Hardware Mouse", but I can't find that option in this game. Any help? By the way, my video drivers are all up to date, and I've tried installing new mouse drivers but that didn't fix anything.
