Just a quick follow up. It would appear that many of the US-Based site I call up, all go through the Paris1.Level3.net and then that Washington1.Level3.net IP. And it would appear to me, that the bottleneck IS the Washington IP. Because on the forum where I Admin/Mod, it runs on the same route, and also gets held up in Washington. Any thoughts, comments suggestions?

Ok, I did that thingy that MottiKhan suggested, and have now a different route, and it appears to be a bit faster, however it's still what I'd call slow. Here's the screenie of the route: And here's the Tracert part of the deal: <span style="color: #000000;"
@ M-203 - You might have already done this, but at the risk of sounding elementary, have you tried ipconfig /flushdns? It's a long shot, but perhaps there are routers between you and Stardock that are adding to the slowdowns. A new route night be a shot in the arm... It's always been slow for me. I just did a Trace with NeoTrace Pro, and may have one reason why it's so slow: Fullsize: http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=traceru7.jpg (see screenshot) my "packet" gets routed to Washington DC, but then instead of getting further routed directly from there to MI, for som

Fair enough, I guess I'll download yet another codec, and see if that fixes the ones that still won't play. However, I doubt it though, because even with author specific Dreams, some will play, others will not. [EDIT] I guess I won't download another codec. None of the ones on that page are freeware. Besides, I re-read up top here, and I DO have Vista Home Premium, DO have PowerDVD installed, and ALSO have that other codec installed that was posted there previously. So the
... If you have any programs like Power DvD you will already have these codecs installed and this won't be an issue. ...
I have the latest version of Power DVD installed since I got my Laptop, but as I said, only after installing the codec you posted, did some of the Dreams, that wern't working, actually start working. But also as said, some still do not work, I am getting dreams opening up in windowed mode, and some kind of ActiveMovie error. Perhaps a reboot will cure

Thanks a lot for that. Now I can finally use my paid GoodNightEarth.Dream and others that didn't work. I figured it was just Sony messing things up on my Laptop with thier bloatware, but no, I installed that codec, and lookee there, it runs. Still have a couple that don't work, but I can live with that.
... BTW, don't want to sound stupid, how are you updating anything from Stardock/WinCustomise without them?
Erm, downloading from the links provided in the purchase mails. And this question is now of particular interest to me, since I now have vacation, and am going to format my drive on my Sony VAIO to lose all the crap they put onboard, and install Vista Ultimate which I bought, coz Sony don't even deliver a DVD with thier Laptops. Even the reco

That is a good question. @ Bebi Bulma Let's assume for a minute that one has neither SDC nor Impulse, and that one also does not want either of those, how then would the configuration settings be saveed? For example for an OS re-installation...
