I haven't been here at Joe User for very long, but like most places of discussion what is said by others seems to want to be controlled by those that start the topic, and they want to seem to control what may or may not be discussed as well as how it can be discussed, and it seems that conflict is not desired. Short of bloodshed, I find conflict to be a good thing. It makes us think and prevents stagnation. We never seem to grow when things are all so comfy cozy.
To live in the Absolute and ignore the Relative would be a disaster. We each need to get up in the morning, eat, go to work, keep to a schedule, etc...all Relative world tasks within a Relative Mind. Should we be "attached" to these? No. But at the same time, we must pay attention to them. Nor can we forget them.
To live in the absolute and ignore the relative would not be a disaster. One can do just that. Once one lives in the absolute there is no need to live in t

Clannisness is simply the seeking out of those like ourselves and our adherence to them and the rejection or ignoring of those that aren't, that is the meaning of clannishness. There is lots of evidence for clannishness in the overall history of mankind, and in the hebrew nation as well as other religions. It is not enough to just live by and tolerate anothers presence which is what many religions and peoples have done and continue to do. That doesn't negate clannishness. Tolerance is not en

Dearest Lula, sweet child, give up on Paul of Tarsus, and his prop Timothy. Go and read Jesus. "EAT THE BOOK" as dear Daniel says. Jesus said "if you can not believe in me, believe in my acts". Belief in the man is not enough, belief that one can overcome earthly attachments is. This is what is meant by the statement, if you can't believe that Jesus can overcome earthly wants and desires then believe in his acts of overcoming them. What good does it do you if you believe that one man (Jesus

Genesis speaks of "the Death". I have seen it here correctly defined by the one who said there are two "deaths", that of the physical body, and that of the "spirit". Christians believe that they will die and God will judge their souls and if they are found acceptable God will give them entry into heaven. That is so, but not the way you think. You will all die the second death as long as you have self importance. Only Sodaiho is close enough to perhaps have a chance to escape it. B
Sort of like telling our children not to touch a hot stove because it's hot. While they may know in their head it would be hot they have no experimental knowledge of what this hot feels like. So they don't trust their parents and go ahead and touch that stove to find out for themselves.
Experience KFC. It's not a matter of trust, but a matter of experience. And by the way not all children disobey their parents in this matter, some actually have previous experience from

What a jolly conversation! Lula claims Jesus was without sin, and yet she quotes Paul constantly instead, along with his prop Timothy. (A convicted murderer and convicted out of his own mouth.) She does however need to do "research" to know what Jesus said. tsk...tsk...tsk She argues along with the rest of you as to who's story of the flood came first, Noe's or Gilgamesh's. And did or did not rain and rainbows exist beforehand. As if it matters. Leauki came quite

They aren't my standards, they are Gods.
A good bit of what you are asking requires time and research on my part.
Try spending less time on Paul and more time on researching Jesus. You will be far better off in the long run. By the way, you Lula are going to have

I know for a fact Lula that the Christ is not THE I AM. I also know for a fact that he was a man, and as such was just like the rest of us born with a sense of self. If he weren't, if you or any one of us weren't, we would not even know that we exist. It is self that makes us know that we are alive. It is self that gives us our awareness. I have repeatedly asked you how you would explain the difference between the words of Jesus and his behaviour, and the words and behaviour of Paul
Jesus the Christ is God Incarnate...and God Incarnate is Jesus the Christ. (note: no comma for me!) Christ said, "I and the Father are one."
That is truth, they are one, but the Christ is not god incarnate. The statement simply means that by the giving up of self, God's will and intent, and the Christs will and intent are one in the same. I have to disagree, Jesus was not always the Christ. It was always God's plan for him to become the Christ, but Jesus had

The church of which Jesus spoke of was the church of the heart, not a new religion, not a temple, not a cathedral. Was Peter the foundation of that church of the heart? You bet!! Did Jesus give Peter the keys to the kingdom? Yep, he sure did. Those keys are the inner knowledge, something that Paul of Tarsus never posessed. If Jesus as he did indeed do, point out the hypocracies of the Pharisees with their parading in the temple for the adoration of the masses, their acumulation of earth

:D I know it's a detail, but the details are most important. And the idea of "Jesus, the Christ", smacks too much of exclusivity, as though becoming one with God is something that only Jesus can posess. It's not. Everyone can posess this, and essentially anyone can become what Jesus became when he became the "Christ". We too often think of this a being a title, when in truth it is a state of being.
Yes, Jesus, the Christ, was a Jew. He was born of a Jewish mother of the Jewish house of David, of the tribe of Judah, therefore in His veins flowed the royal blood of Israel's kings. After His birth He was presented at the Temple for His circumcision, at 12, entered the Bar-Metzvah-time, entered the Synagogue and read the Holy Scrolls, preached at the Synagague and celebrated Jewish feasts.
I agree with the basic premise. However it would be more correct to say "Jesus w
Acts 9:10-19 completes the first of 3 accounts of St.Paul's conversion. The emphasis in this account is that St.Paul is the Lord God's "vessel of election", that is a Hebraicism equvalent to "chosen instrument" to carry Christ's name to the gentiles, kings and Israelites.
Yes there are, and they all differ substantially. Although the testimonies of the apostles differ slightly because they are told by different men, Pauls differs radically and they were all told by him.
So, yes Saul was forgiven and his hatred and persecution of Christians were changed, through the blood of the martyr. This is a good fruit of love and utter surrender to God. I understand that this makes no sense to some.
Okay I'll give you Stephen, but Stephen wasn't the only person that Saul persecuted or brought to death. There is nothing about those others that says they forgave him.
St.Augustine (354-430) whose young life was full of pride and fleshl
I understand that "the Way", corresponds to both the Christian lifestyle and the Gospel itself.
That is perhaps your understanding, but why do you understand that to be so? The "Way" is simply what is necessary that one must do so that "death" passes one by. The Gospel is simply a testimony (a recounting) by witnesses, (in this case the apostles) to the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus. They are in truth no different than the testimony or the recountin
Just like Christ, Stephen dies commending his soul to God and praying for his persecutors. And v. 58 tells that Saul is a part of his persecutors who cooperates by watching the executioner's clothes.
Saul is not one of the those that stoned Stephen. Although he may have condoned it and was witness to it, he did not commit the act. Stephen forgave those that committed the act. It is not known whether or not Stephen even knew who Saul was.
What does Acts say about St.Stephen as he was being stoned?
That he forgave those who stoned him. It does not say however that Saul was one of those. I does not also account for the others forgiving him whom he admits that he dragged out of their homes because of their belief in the gospels. This is what Paul says in his discourse in Jerusalem to the people in Acts 22 verse 1-5 Discourse to the People "Brethren and fathers, listen to what I h

Jesus says in St. Mark chapter 10 verse 18 The Danger of Riches "But Jesus said to him, "Why dost thou call me good? No one is good but only God." Paul of Tarsus did not deny being "God" in Acts Chapter 28 verse 6 Malta "Now they were expecting that he would swell up and suddenly fall down and die; but after waiting along time and seeing no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god."
