I don't mind throwing my hat toward any potential improvements, since it's all just looks anyway. People can e-mail me the files I need. And I hear each race got their own HUD finally.

Not saying I can't run GIMP, but I have Photoshop 7.1 and Paint Shop Pro. Neither can read .dds directly, but the converter doesn't put me off either. I'm sure I can find a plug-in for PS7

Actually, the empire tree, although I have it on a tight leash, is one of the features that makes me wish for dual screen support. I have two monitors, but Sins leaves me to turn one off. If I had a second screen, I wouldn't mind having a secondary battle screen, but moreso would like a place to put research windows, the empire tree, and other tidbits.
I reduce it down to pinning just fleets and starbases in progress. Since starbases auto-pin with no option to do otherwise, I keep them there until they're upgraded and done. Then I unpin. Fleets are there and it's useful for managing cap abilities and monitoring health. I stack the frigates and cruisers so I know their numbers, but I rarely worry about every single one doing some unique function. Beyond that, I use the warning tabs and spacebar to get me to places of recent a
