You know, sometimes the board gets swamped with so much negative BS- rants and flames about DL caps, "where is the community", "I'm taking my stuff down and leaving", yadayadayada- and then something like this comes along- and we get a gentle reminder about what's really good about this group. Luke- You might try this- move everything out of your startup folder (put them in some other dir so you can get them back), reboot and see if systray acts right. If it does, move your apps back into startup one at a time and repeat until systray blows up. I agree with Jafo- you've got something running that's hosing the tray.
one thing you can try- comment out all the systray config lines- just leave the Loadmodule statement and see if you get the icons with the raw default settings. I don't think the nosystray line will make a difference; in fact I'm not sure the command is still supported.

Luke- Sounds like you have an old build- go here: http://shellfront.org/lsdev/ and pick up the latest Indie LS build. Drop it in over your existing Litestep core files and see if that doesn't solve your problem.

I think migellito makes a valid case- at least part of the freeware market, and the customizing-in-general market, is made up of people who just want to "fiddle" with it. It sounds good to be all principled and idealistic about free software for the masses, yadayada, but I am too old and cynical for that - bottom line is I _like_ tearing up and redesigning my Litestep shell; not because I'm improving the genre, or providing something for others, but because it's fun to tweak it, to see if I can
