I thought I'd make a reply now, as of beta 1c demigod with the updated toshiba video drivers, now runs on the laptop above, aside from some intel related issues (graphic driver reloads itself as it does when world of warcraft is played) it runs very well on the lowest setting, and even on high it runs at a tolerable level for a game or two, before starting to annoy me. :)

folks, its beta 1, not final release. Lets wait and see before we start turning to "omg I lost monies" I'm in the same boat as you are, at this point, with the 965 chipset but comparing a beta to final release is unrealistic. I fully expect that, by the time of release laptops will be capable of running it without much issue as they have a vested interest in making the game available for as many people with as many different configurations as possible, including the increasing mobile market.<

The "fun factor" that has kept DotA alive is the players. If you hit submit 2 times because you don't believe it working, it can charge your card for every one (In scyn's case maybe he had 2 on a single order, and pressed it twice without realizing it). Thats why most sites clearly say "press submit once" I've had it happen to me before, credit was given so no complaints.

PC gaming itself won't die, worse case scenario it goes to the wayside like tabletop war gaming went. As for "anti pirate software" I've got mixed feelings on that. Its ok to protect your interests but its not ok to hamper everyday use. I recall copy protection schemes even back in the 80's, EA used them then too. This isn't something new the trouble has been in the past that engineers have to plan for every possible hack and hackers only need to find 1 way to make it work, there are some new wa
