At the moment, for me, the game is great, but in it's current form, unplayable, especially on the large/huge scenarios. (I ran the yesterday on a 3GHz Quad Core Extreme, GF 8800 GTX and 2 GB RAM) Beacause of the game breaking problem of mine spawning, after three hours, the whole game slowed down to a crawl, and when trying to exit, I had the same problems as above. The mine bug needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency, there needs to be a cap on them, plus a ship to count

It is 'hard' on hard, I think perhaps unfairly so - for example, some opponants seem to have 3/4 capital ships very early, along with a fleet of lesser ships! I have medium nailed as far a winning tactic are concerned, so I thought Id try hard - I got squished big time. I tried again, this time just pumping out ships to beef up the fleet, ignoring the more rewarding (to me) tech trees - this worked much better, but a lot less fun, and certainly too frantic (from a RTW lovers' perspect

I have to diagree - I too have played Rome Total War to death, along with all the mods for it. I downloaded (and paid for) this game on a whim, when I was bored on rainy afternoon. I have played it virtually everyday since, completely usurping Rome as my time muncher. I am far from disappointed with SOASE, quite the opposite, in fact - I consider it a rare gem of a game.

I have found it is very important to fulfil the other players missions, especially early on. If they are ignored, you WILL lose, as they will 'gang up' on you, and no matter how well developed your research is, it will do no good with 2 whole fleets bearing down on your planet in a pincer movement. I now start the game very slowly, building up the military and civic researches, and agreeing to pay the other teams requests for crystal, metal, money, even if it leaves me out of pocket -

Hi, I have just bought this via the Impulse download software. I spent 6 hours on just a small scenario last night, so I would like to load/install the game on my laptop also (like I do with other games that have the disc). can I do this with the download only version? Thanks, Chantelle
