Confused the heck out of me when it first came up with the new layout - but I have to say, it's looking good now that I've spent a little time with it. Good job, so far! ^_^

Paxx: I probably am, yeah, but with support for such things as com objects, VBSCript, JScript and (Eventually, according to SD,) C# and XAML - /EVEN THOUGH/ it is meant as desktop ehancement software, it could be used ideally, for much, much more. Frogboy (I do believe it was him,) already said they made a slideshow .exe with it - so even if it wasn't /meant/ was that originally, it's shown it's quite capable at it. As soon as you put robust scripting support into something, it become

Hey Draginol, perhaps you'd be interested in the last spam I got! (In comparison, I get /maybe/ 1 or 2 every other month - but I'm not complaining.) It turns out that I can increase -my- breast size! NATURALLY! I admit.... I'm intrigued... ^_~

To everybody that thinks $499 is expensive for a corporate level product, you need to think about the -real- capabilities of what DesktopX can do, when you can export files as .exe's. It goes beyond little clocks, and calenders and such. Suddenly, Stardock & Desktop X finds itself in a whole new ballpark. With the capablities of Desktop X and .exe's the doors are opened for things (possibly, from what I've gathered from DX's current, and upcoming capabilities,) as autorun programs for

Enh. Depends on what I'm doing. For normal day to day usage, and most games, I run 1280. Whenenver I fire up Photoshop or Dreamweaver, or for games that my system can handle at that res, it gets pushed up to 1600. And I've gotta say, Freelancer at 1600 is /too/ sweet. ^_^ All you Dell owners, I'm partially jealous. I don't like the laptops at all - but their 1600x1200 screens are /amazingly/ clear and easy to read. Honestly easier to make out than my Toshiba's 1024 screen.

$499 is a good sweet spot for commercial use, as you're targetting the corporate customer. $129 - for -everything- that DX Pro does, for non-commercial use?? That's a -steal-. People need to look at the cost of comparable packages and what they would cost - that is, if they existed. $129 for what can basically be used as a more streamlined application development studio of sorts? People who think the price is too much need to -really- look at all the software does!

Oy! I -hate- wasting another post for this - but I just want to add how impressed I am by the quality of the .exe's it turns out, already. I wanted to play with one, so I picked (of course - I bet 80% picked this one,) the analog clock. Very, very sweet - just the kind of quality I expect from the guys at Stardock. It looks /just/ as if I were running DesktopX - and it barely takes up any resources at all. Rather sweet. (My only suggestion would be that it would be nice to

That's the funny thing about the vertical software market. You -have- to charge what the customer base, is expecting to pay (or at least in that area,) or you only wind up losing business. My roommate's company often believes that they're ripping their customers off with what they charge per hour of training, or per each workstation of their software, etc. but it's in the area of what the client expects to be paying. When they charge less, they find they suffer from the same problem D

Ah - the Cube was a work of art in itself. It's a shame that the computer itself was plagued with problems. I've heard many stories about people putting SFF PCs in a Cube case - that'd be fairly nifty. Me, I'm perfectly happy with the minimal lines of my Liam Li case - which, I might add, had made more than a few Mac owners (and zealots,) jealous.

Erm.. You'd most likely want to use *drumroll* Glass paint. ^_^ Yes, they make paints (acryllics, I believe,) specifically intended for use on glass. It has a very, very matte finish though, so you have to use something on top of that, afterwards, to get some gloss to it. (Just checked quickly - and yes, a lot of it is acryllic based.. I tried calling my mother, since she used to do quite a lot of this - but... they seem to be out tonight. ^_^)

"- Fonts. I don't think Mac fonts can just simply used into Windows. You probably need a conversion table with similar looking fonts, sizes, etc." Well, actually - with OSX and higher, they use the exame same format for TTF and OpenType fonts now. The PS fonts are in the same file formats too, I /think/ - for those still using postscript.

Something about the overall 'feel' of Opera always had me running away from it after about 10-15 minutes of using it. I can't quite explain it. Firebird, however, is sheer browsing bliss (especially when you turn on pipelining (well it helps w/servers that support it,) and disable the default delay before rendering a page. Firebird's all of the good of Mozilla, without the general crappiness (bloaty crashiness,) of it.

Hrm... User Agent Switcher and "Things They Left Out" are the only extensions I really use. TTLO will let you set smooth scroll, and turn off that gawd-awful image resizing, among other things. Or, you can get your hands dirty and learn how to disable/enable/change stuff without extensions. That's more fun. =D

Addendum that was intended to be added to the previous post: (Bah.) Open source has it's strengths as well as its weaknesses. The same can be said for non-open source software. Neither one is good, and neither one is evil. They are simply different. Equal, but different. They live in perfect harmony to me, and on my computer, why can't they with other people?

I read this, and I have to do a double-take. Yes, either Messy Buu has an almost nonexistant knowledge of the thoughts behind Open Source and its community, or else, this has been one bad, bad attempt at humour. First, we have the first paragraph. It's a decent analogy I suppose except for the simple fact that it applies to non-open sourced software JUST AS MUCH as it does to open sourced software. Only, there's one small difference... When the developer of the non-open source proje

Who cares about Themes when the default Firebird theme goes with everything ? ^.^ I've recently gotten into playing around with the user.js, userContent.css and userChrome.css files too. I'm in love. There isn't a -single- facet of Firebird that you can't tweak, edit, or completely change through simple editting (Okay, the editting is simple, but the context isn't. It's not /that/ hard though,) of a few files. Don't like icons in your bookmarks menu? Fine, get rid of

"The closest thing to Konfabulator is Samurize." And they'll probably both be great programs at what they do. I just wonder if the Konfabulator guys can keep it as small & svelte as Samurize. EDIT: Okay, I need to edit this because Samurize -IS- a great program at what it does! (And getting better all the time! I say, just in case NeM drops by. ^.^) [Message Edited]

"Messing with the defaults is dangerous" Through reshacking? Yes, yes it is. That's part of what makes it so much more fun. (Though for a system-wide replace, nothing but IconPackager. ^_^) I'm curious about one big thing though... What ugly yellow icon are you talking about Pixel Pirate? For the life of me, I can't think of any 'ugly yellow icon' associated with XP - and inquiring minds want to know. ^_^

"DON'T write about common place things. For example, a list of the things you did yestarday....nobody cares. I made a post all about what transpired during a trip to Atlantic city, and nobody cared." The thing about this one is that many people /do/ treat their blog as just what it is. A log. A diary. They write for themselves, and use it as an online form of keeping a pen & paper diary/journal/log. I think the only do/don't list needed would be like this: DO: Write

Thanks to Microsoft providing APIs, but not providing any utility-level support (such as Unix's 'ln' command,) few people today are aware of the fact that Windows provides file system level support for both POSIX compliant hard links for files as well as Microsoft's own form of symbolic links through shell links and (on NTFS

Or better yet - why get with somebody at all? You already said you don't want a boyfriend. Getting together with somebody /just/ because you want some affection - well, that's a sure recipe for disaster.
