I don't get this whole recipe thing. If you can get the magical boots by combining the hat that costs $2000 with the gloves that cost $5000... why not just have the store sell the magical boots for $7000 instead? Am I misunderstanding how that works?
THE ADVANTAGES OF THE RECIPE SYSTEM HERE FINALLY AND ANNOUNCED IN CAPITAL LETTERS: - the "parts" of an item can be achieved part-wise -> You will take pr

@recipes: I dont think mechanics are a problem, even dota, a mod, gets it done . Still, I don´t want a recipe system for the sake of having a recipe system. But mechanics should definately not be a matter. Rather balance, originality, functionality, strategic options and dynamic. @reaver: now do you agree that it´s not that easy to differ strengths from weaknesses or not Oo ? at least we could agree on this: In the end only the
denying and lasting hitting should NOT be in the game, ive had a change of heart... Recipes are such horse **** too, having to memorize what everything needs is just stupid, it then becomes more like DotA (take this as good or bad) because its more leaning toward an item game then a skill game, Id rather have games be based on use of skills then whats in your inventory and anyway, half the time nubs sit in base trying to figure out what i

"Counting maps, approx. 10, there are 486.200 combinations." :P yeah you are right quality combos are definately better but you also have to take into account that the 48620 combinations will not differentiate that much. Still, the first 1000 games will be pretty different :)
Although I agree generally what innociv is saying, you cant really compare GW to Demigod can you? Gw had 6-10 classes...Now count the number of combinations of classes you can have together (primary/secondary). Yea thats a definate 30+ amount of different classes...Each class has about 300+ skills or so? There are about 1000+ different items? Getting the drift... Guild Wars and Demigod are two different genres...Demigod is rts/rpg and Guild
Quoting siksikiisoi, reply 15 I fail to see how any gamer, casual or otherwise, will be continually motivated to play a game system where they stare across the battlefield at the same 8 models time after time after time. This, in and of itself, will kill off any desire for long term gameplay in anyone regardless of the customizability of the few individual characters. You see, the longer a competitive match of Demigod
wow, I posted twice, hoping to help get this resolved... "I dont want Demigod to BE DotA, I want it similar, with the good in the game, the bad can go, idc for it. an example of bad are the recipes, one or two is good (for like end game uber WTFPWN items) but not for core items." - Reaver Its bold, can you see it now?
now, see, that´s the problem. I played dota for years, and I played other AOS maps.

The recipe system got the + that it adds another depth to items, the buildup. but that is not neccessarily the best solution, and it´s a new factor tobalance, so I like the 3 path-solution, too. about 5 boots: Why not check the inventory, if you got boots already? If you got, you can call the other 4 boots "Boot enhancement" or something more creative :/ . That´d make some new icons needed, though (24*4, any1 ?).

the problem I see with only a few demigods is following thing: even if you can buildup them differently, one built will be proven to be the best anyways (like in dota, you CANNOT balance it perfectly). Additionally, the demigods won´t have that much abilities, and they will be coupled with fixed base attributes like base stat, stat growth, size and attack range. So here the effect: Even if 1 demigod had 12 abilities, this would only be equal 3 dota heroes (due to the fac
