If you also try to use the Vulkoras' Deploy Siege Platform, the platform is often deployed outside of its firing range, so Pinpoint Bombardment will give it enough range to fire if you let the Vulkoras simply use it at maximum deployment range.

With Junsuraks (Vasari flak ship), the AoE damage will kill off strike craft quickly. The only problem is that on autocast, it will cause your LRFs and flak ships to ignore movement/jump orders in favour for chasing down a scout/trade ship, or some other questionable target.

Optimum number = number of colonizable planets you can sustain This number is not constant, as it fluctuates according to your resource demands, fleet size (and capacity), proximity to hostile strongholds, available resources, and numerous other factors. You should only colonize a planet once you can afford to upgrade it to generate positive income, otherwise it becomes a drain on your resources. Defenses should scale according to the threat you percieve is posed by Pirates or

I thought Advent Repair Bays restored 30 hull/s... still twice as effective as Vasari ones. Just take note that the TEC's repair bay begins with 20 hull/s, and must be upgraded twice to reach 40 hull/s (each upgrade increases the repair rate by 10 hull/s). Repair bay itself is Tier 1 Military, upgrades are both Tier 2 and necessary for the Hoshiko. Technically, Advent have the best repair bay before additional research.

You can make research more feasible if you increase its speed in the game options (Tier 8 techs get researched in 3 minutes with maximum research speed), or if you're Advent, Aggregate Knowledge will increase the rate of research by 33% (which translates into research times cut by 25%). 1v1 games don't usually take long enough for an empire to completely finish researching all its technologies unless it purposely takes a mostly defensive or conservative attitude towards expansion. Bailout defeated 228-205.... Citigroup is absorbing Wachovia, Dutch-Belgian bank Fortis NV gets 11.2 billion Euro bailout... Banks won't even lend to each other now.

When you select a group of ships to be formed into a fleet, look for the sub-selected unit. You can tell which unit it is in two ways: the actual ship's selection circle is brighter than the faded circles of all the other units. Alternately, look in the empire tree and the ship's representative icon will be brighter than the other selected ships.

In a way, the superweapons are also a crude method of recon, as in the case of the Novalith and Kostura, where only hostile planets are valid targets, which instantly tell you which planets are colonized by a hostile faction. The Deliverance's only restriction is that the planet must have population, so it can be fired on self, friendly, and hostile (though its only bad for hostiles). Really, the only valid targets for the Novalith should be known hostile targets (that is, planets that have b
So you use armistice, and get 60 seconds of hull repair, while the other guy basically sits and watches.
Wait a sec, doesn't Armistice also disable abilities?

You were right in that the Mothership is involved: its Cleansing Brilliance and Malice (used by the Radiance and Progenitor, respectively). If you have a Rapture at the same time, cast Vengeance on the Radiance after it uses Animosity. Ships that are forced to attack the Radiance will suffer a multiple of the damage they dealt to the Radiance in accordance to Vengance's level. A Halcyon in the vicinity of a Rapture with Concentration Aura will have all her strike craft's damag

In 1.05, Gravity Tolerance simply shrank the disc representing the gravity well in accordance to the researched level of Tolerance... the gravity well you see would be smaller than the gravity well others see (try comparing gravity well size in a replay and switching between players).

There are two ways: 1. Station capital ships at the affected planet. Each capital ship repels culture depending on its level (and researched bonuses in the case of the Vasari caps). Culture repulsion rate can be calculated by 0.05x + 0.25, where x is your capital ship's level, if the capital is at friendly location. If you are at a neutral location, divide the result of the calculation by 2, and if your capital is at a hostile location, culture repel rate is zero. Vasari Capit

If you're looking in terms of refineries, then the Advent have none. Instead, their Trade Port can switch to increasing resource extraction rates for that gravity well, with appropriate research (research subject is Resource Focus). Once researched, Resource Focus allows the Advent Trade Port to surrender trade capabilities (disabling the Trade Drones belonging to that port as well as denying other Drones from using the port) in order to raise resource extraction rates to all extracto

Which level of planetary shields? First level is at Tier 5 (which is included with getting the Shield Generator) and levels 2 and 3 are at Tier 7. Maxed Shield Generators can mitigate a TON of damage, rendering siege frigs (a favourite ship for the AI to employ in raids) next to useless unless in ridiculous numbers.

Like the Kostura, this weapon is more useful with a fleet following the shot in. Culture bonuses aside, the Deliverance Signal also gives your ships a 15% bonus to damage output when they are in the gravity well of the affected planet. On larger fleets, this makes a rather significant difference.

The closest thing we have to an uprising other than overpowering cultural influence is the TEC's Insurgency. Once researched, opposing empires will periodically suffer raids from ships resembling the planetary militia ships that are found around neutral planets at the start. These ships belong to the "Rebels" faction and will attack anyone, including yourself. Insurgency has 2 levels, the second level having more severe raids (either larger forces or generally more Heavy Cruisers). Ship

Unfortuantely, from all I've witnessed, the actual generation of your culture from a planet hit by a Deliverance Signal will equal 25.0/sec - enemy broadcast rate. Should the enemy's broadcast rate be greater than 25.0/sec, then you're just slashing that planet's culture generation... Culture seems to have a tendency to have relatively high spread rates from planets with only one phase lane connected to them... once a Deliverance Signal on such a planet caused my culture to be generat
Two Raptures both firing at eachother, both using Vengeance.. sounds like damage getting bounced back and forth and amplified indefinitely. Never thought it would actually work but seems I was mistaken. Scary stuff.
That would produce faster deaths when Vengeance's retaliated damage is increased to 65%/130%/225% in 1.1... This warrants experimentation...

I thought hovering the mouse over the research icon only showed progress on research currently being carried out... 2. You can also set teams at the start of the game, as well as decide whether to leave the teams locked or unlocked. Unlocking teams means players are allowed to change their alliances, while locking teams prevents this (and thus, disabling most of the diplomacy screen). 3. The Advent also have a more powerful set of abilities which complement each other (combos
