Yeah welcome to our rather small online community. Usually during prime time there will be about 140 people online with most of those already playing a game, 60-90 in afternoons and 30 in the morning. Clans aren't so popular as friends list are so start updating yours when you meet people you like. It seems like most of the casual players stick to regular Sins, while the more competitive ones play Entrenchment. Either way I'd still recommend getting it because at $10 i

Good point. Here is another one too... When you are in a game and get a 2v1 and your ally does nothing, the 2 people attacking you aren't oblivious to it. Most players online have respect for someone who fights in a 2v1 and holds out as long as possible. If you can fight 2 people to a stand still (with no feed), you have pretty much proved who the best player is among the 3 of you. And hey, asking for some feed is fine too :). I would love to

Also, I think I'm going to stop caring about wins. If someone wants to drag the game out, I don't care. Although I have always toyed with the idea of going afk myself against an AFKer.&nbsp

Let me make a quick reply before I go to bed. I built 2 military labs once I saw I was in the suicide spot. I will always research off the bat Assailants, Flak, Repair bays, deploy starbase and phase inhibitors. All I had to do was construct one once I knew I would need it. I ordered my egg out of the gravity well the second we made contact. Lots of people lose their caps trying to squeeze just a little more time out of them, I prefer to play it safe.&n

Maybe I'm just not seeing the danger of the early game illum spam. I just played a game tonight as Vasari, in the suicide spot, with no roid, dealing with both a halycron rush and a rival vasari player who wasn't rushed competing with me for neutrals. After a couple quick battles the Advent player had no capital ships, hardly any illums and needed his neighbor (the vasari) to give him a SB to keep me from taking his homeworld after I took his roid. He even got a small feed.&

This thread isn't titled "Do Vasari fall prey to disciple/scout spam", it is titled "Is Vasari Underpowered and is it time to reduce the nerf on RA?" Make an adult like response and I'll be happy to have a discussion with you on why I feel Vasari is underrated. Pot calling kettle. You typed up a lovely Vasari strategy guide, but seem to agree where the pr

[quote who="Cykur" reply="12" id="2475914"] You guys have touched on Vasari's one true early game downfall though, the Advent disciple/scout rush. Assailant will counter the disciples, but scout will counter the assailant. Flak will counter the scouts, but disciples will counter the flak. Disciples and scouts cost less, can be built faster and cost less fleet supply then assailants and flak. It is the same as in chess, if my bishop protects a spot and so does your pawn, the spot belongs

Two thoughts. 1. Flak burst has a delay. Make sure to use it when SC are coming into range, not leaving it. 2. Capital ships don't use anti-matter when making SC so this weapon is much less effective against them. A carrier cruiser OTOH will run out of anti-matter and be effectively neutralized by flak burst. I'm not really a big Kol fan personally, but to each their own. As a Vasari player I think the best way to kill the SC is to ki

I've been casully following this thread and probably know which game it stems from because me and Zoomers were in it together. Actually we were on the same team, I was cap and he was my first pick. When the other cap used his two picks the grab Quar and Howler who were both smurfing and the other cap knew it somehow and was open about it I was pretty unhappy. The game was sadly lost in a landslide. Now I don't smurf, I've got one name on ICO and it is the

(Wow super long post here but I am waiting for my wife to call so I can't start a game anyway.) I play Vasari about 99% of the time these day and have a record of 185 games, 115 wins and 23 loses. The majority of my games that aren't wins or loses are mini dumps, remakes/desync and having an ally leave early during a just for fun comp stomp. Funny enough I started playing Vasari because most of the time I am the only person on my team who would and sometimes

Tonight myself and some of the best online players (not me but I had fun[e digicons]:D[/e] ) played a 5v5 which was unique in that it there was no true suicide spot or pocket. For those who don't play online that is where you are squished between two rushing enemies or have an ally to each side. What it turned into was 5 1v1 games with a few team tactics mixed in. The teams were JohnJames, [_]ArchNemesis, Disruptor22, Citizens General Lu and NWcityguy2 (me) v

This really ain't a bad community IMO, but I can only compare it the Starcraft/Broodwars too. In Starcraft you could have a screen shot of a person saying, "F*ck you and F*ck Blizzard I will hack if I want and there is nothing they can do about it", and sure enough there was nothing Blizzard would do about it. Oh yeah, also there was so much hacking going on that it was basically impossible to be elite without doing it yourself. And it was quite common to see people booted&n

Also come online sometime and ask for help, it is much better for someone to show you what they mean in a game then over the forums. People online in general are usually quite helpful and you should be able to find someone to assailant rush you and give you pointers on how to better counter it.

The thing with scouts is you have to out number him, 2:1 is ideal. Don't go overboard though because then you will be stuck with a ton of scouts after you have killed his assailants and he has moved on to flak and carriers (or something else). Also during a battle you have to be constantly producing units to replace ones lost. Honestly if you can do a scout spam right you should be happy that he is still making assailant because that is a ship you can counter. As far

You can play with random people, just click the "join game" or "host game" buttons. Friends lists are mostly worthless as sooooo many people play under a variety of names. I just use NWcityguy2 and feel free to add me to your friends list as I'm always up for helping a new player.

My advice to you would to be start playing in the smaller games like 2v2's and 3v3's. Rarely do people get booted from these and the skill/competition level is lower as well. I sometimes see the same "less skilled" people join big games again and again, and wonder what they are getting out of being constantly rushed off the face of the earth. While I don't agree with booting anyone but smurfs and people who go AFK, if you are constantly getting booted maybe you need
