The game is leaked in finished form. I've played it for about 10-12 hours and while I found it a lot of fun for the first 8 hours or so, once I got the highest career rank and a good number of the achievement upgrades (dont need to use bathroom, hardly have to eat or shower) it started to get boring really quick. 12 hours of entertainment isn't worth $70 to me. I've bought plenty of singleplayer games (recently) that I either could have downloaded or did download before buying, Sims 3
I never understood the whole "It's crap, I refuse to pay for it! So I'll pirate it instead!" argument. If a game sucks, then you shouldn't want to play it period. If you play it and get any enjoyment out of it, you kind of owe it to the developer/publisher who created it. It's a poor attempt to justify their sense of entitlement.
<span style

This sounds like it has more to do with an internal problem for EA than its fight against piracy in general. Besides, they already announced not using their typical tactics Sims 3.

Well, I have yet to read a movie review I 100% agreed with, and I am not expecting to read a game review that I 100% agree with either. I read them for key words and key issues and for entertainment purposes. A lot of games not considered mainstream don't do well on reviews. So what? How long are we going to hear complaints about the Demigod reviews. If you have the game and like it, go write one of your own review about it. There are plenty of sites that offer an avenue for it. Add your

I'll probably wind up getting L4D around the holidays I think. Right now most of my gaming hours are shared with the same group so it makes little sense to buy a game they are not into. I mean we liked it when it was free, but I was the only one ready to pay for it when the free time ended. I think it was 26 during their promo, but now its full retail again, except at retail stores. 30 dollars for a game that has both good gameplay and good graphics is a bargain to me. It's not really my genr

I don't see how what I said was personal, at leat no more personal than claiming dissent is against digital distrbution. Talk to a steam fan of an impulse fan and you would think questioning either of those services was the same as slapping them in the face. I don't know that you are a huge fan of either of these so I was not actually referring to you. The argument that anything is the wave of the future is, however, a hollow argument as it isn't backed with anything like why, when, how conce

EA has their own download service, and they've also flocked to Steam. When did I ever say it would be an overnight thing? It hasn't been. It's been gradually growing for the past 5 or so years. I'm absolutely certain

Also, their profits are ridiculous. You might be surprised at how much is saved through DD. I have no doubt that, if you wanna keep playing the biggest games, you're gonna need to start using DD. That's the future of the industry(or the now; whatev').
There is a difference between being "against"
There are a few loud complaints about Steam, but I think that overall they must be satisfying somewhere in the neighborhood of 95% of their customers, which is pretty decent. Just a quick dial-up connection is all you need to get going and it's really no trouble at all. I don't see what all the fuss is about.
If the goal of a company is to maintain their customer base and that's it, then there isn't an issue.
Anyways, I understand you there, but from what I know pirating isn't much of an issue with Steam games, if one at all. If you can't do an online activation, too bad for you. That's just how it works. I bought Half-Life 2 used on E-Bay and wasn't able to activate it. That sucked, but I was still completely alright with that. (yay for the Orange Box). Again, that's just how it works. If that'll combat piracy, then it's automatically

I had serious issues with Half-Life 2 when i first bought it because the base i was stationed at had very restrictive internet access; as such, i couldn't get onto

I will admit i am not 100% on the digital bandwagon yet. I have dabbled with Steam, mostly with demos, betas and other free content, bought a few bargain titles from Impulse and not used the others at all. I have concerns about digital distribution but what is bothering most about the trend is its bleeding into the retail versions of the game. I've heard if you buy Left 4 Dead off a retail shelf, you still need steam to play and the internet which makes it an issue for people in the mil

The gaming media is all over this, naturally claiming lack of DRM is the problem. But the trouble is, Stardock released numbers but where can we find something to compare it to? 88% of players at one moment in time trying to connect to servers were pirates, but what are the piracy rates (if we should even call it that) of other games with DRM. Is it really that different? I had heard it was very high only the companies aren't as open about the numbers (or just don't have a lot of credibility

Well I was speaking in general. I think as far as the industry goes, more often than not they are released in poor shape to meet deadlines. There are, of course, exceptions but really... Neverwinter Nights wasn't even playable out of the box. Heroes of Might and Magic V unplayable for multiplayer. The Guild II, english version had the error messages in german. Civ IV, a noticable memory leak that slowed it down after playing awhile. The Battle for Middle Earth II Witch King required a .ini ed

I rarely pay attention to a game review's raw scores. I read the review for key issuesand features shortly after release day, keywords. If it's a niche game, it rarely gets the praise of the more publicized mainstream games anyway. I've seen reviewers knock games for the very thing that a fanbase enjoys most about a series. If there is a major issue with the game that looks like it could be fixed in the future, I will visit the forums a month maybe two after relea

If it's to the publisher X, how can anyone tell if that X won't disappear in the future? A similar trend, that started as a great idea but now's gone bad, is the releasing of unjustified DLCs that cost money for a feature that normally was supposed to be in the full game, but was cut out in the last moment to make an extra buck with the DLC. One recent example is
