What you're telling me is making me want to play less, not more. Back to Dawn of War II and Company of Heroes, then. I'm only sorry that I wasted 40 bucks buying this in the first place. Relic is a tier above Gas-Powered and Stardock in terms of both game quality and community, anyway.

I've noticed an incredible amount of rudeness when it comes to new players. Every time I try to connect to a game, after a few moments in the lobby the host will make some comment like "noob, lol" or "no noobs, sorry" and then kick me. How is a new player supposed to improve without anyone to play against? Is the community and fanbase of this game really that dense and mean-spirited? I understand concepts like micromanaging, build order (or,
Look at it this way. For them to support your non-standard resolution, IC would have to redo the UI. In the process of doing this, they will make the UI too small for those of us who run higher resolutions (And I'd bet we outnumber netbook users rather sizeably). Netbooks aren't made for gaming, they are made primarily for *gasp* surfing the web! Their capabilities are rather limited. To those Netbooks t

This is unfortunate, as netbooks are a major market that they have available, which continues to grow. I spend more time away from home that at it, and am probably going to buy a netbook soon so I can compute without carrying much weight. It would be nice to be able to play Sins on it, too. I really love the game, and would love to take it with me. Would you rather me fall back on my DS for portable entertainment? That's going to mean more of my good will going to Nintendo and Squa

Speficially, the following: Support for 1024 x 600 resolution. I've got several friends with netbooks, and am thinking of getting one. We're in love with the idea of being able to have an impromptu SOASE game if we're all hanging out together and have our netbooks out. Problem is, Sins acts wacky when you try to get it to display in the native resolution of netbook screens. It cuts off the bottom of the screen, so you can't click some of the me

Half of the people with negative opinions are too scared to say them so you get a lot of "this game is pretty good/ok/fun" with absolutely no critique on the dozens of negative factors. Also, you get critical but thought provoking threads locked down with a vengeance. Anyways, just my opinion.
Uh, have you *read* the forum? None
Quoting takashi_k, reply 18I'm sure plenty of pirates get a little power-trip thrill when they steal a game, feeling that they've somehow beaten the unfair system which has denied them the entertainment that they think they're entitled to, which they think they shoudln't have to pay for. Which can equally be said for developers (the power trip) that release steaming piles of poo as videogames that end up being bought by hapless consumers.

No, I wasn't miffed at all. It's his game, dude. Of course he's going to think it's awesome. I'm a little miffed that you're raising it as an issue, I think it's bullshit that you did, to be honest. It *is* an awesome game, by the way. It's not the very, very best, but it's definitely a first-tier production, right up there in quality with such games as Company of Heroes, Dawn of War II, C&C 3, Supreme Commander, or Sins

Rationalizations for being a thief. Stealing this game will not cure world hunger or stop mass rape and genocide, nor will it "wake up" anyone. Piracy is a symptom of the same problem which is also the source of those problems you listed, including rape and genocide: A lack of virtue, a lack or respect for the work, worth, or lives of others. You are only concerned with pleasing yourself, and have no qualms about hurting others, whether thier body or thier wall

Why are we talking about piracy? Seriously? Who cares. Who. Frackin. Cares. Pirates don't get a vote, and you don't matter, except as bandwidth-parasites. Why do people keep starting threads about it? I wish the forum mods would start auto-locking piracy threads as soon as they're formed.

I don't recall calling any names. There have been few TBS games that were singleplayer, but there have been a few. Most of them fall into the sub-category of Turn-Based-Tactics. (the Fire Emblem games, for example). Disciples 2: Dark Prophecy would be an example of a Singleplayer TBS with a story, cutscenes, and a general focuse on providing an experience for one person, rather than on an even, balanced playing field for multiple people (or the illusion

It *is* so. In Pong, Joust, the computer player had the same abilities and options that a human player did, nothing more. Playing single-player on those games (or newer multi-player games like Smash Brothers, Demigod, etc) just means that an AI is running that player where a human would normally be. But the CPU/AI doesn't have any options available to it that a regular person wouldn't have. More to the point, all the early PC TBS games were ba

Why would anyone buy a car without tiers? (or a game without single player?).
That's a ridiculous, and invalid, comparison. A car without tires doesn't drive. A game without single player *does* drive, and quite well. The root

Real, valid response have been given. You talk about "nonsense" or "insults" but several posters, including myself, had laid out exactly what we think in a concise, logical manner. It looks like *you're* resorting to insults, by talking about how you're wasting your time attempted to speak to us in an educated manner. However, the reverse is true: Several folks on this forum are quite well educated. We simply disagree with you, and find your reasoning to be fla

And seriously, if you want a game where you own EVERYTHING about the game and nobody else has any control over any aspect of what you do... Sorry, that's what freeware is for. Stardock doesn't make freeware. There are plenty of really good Freeware titles on the nets, though. Like Gunroar: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/gr.html Or Wesnoth: http://www.wesnoth.org/ Or better yet, bu

The issue is not with DRM. DRM is fine. Companies have the right to protect thier IP. I say this as a customer who's bought both Sins and Demigod. What is not fine is when companies resort to measures to protect thier IP that break *other* laws and could potentially damage a user's compuer. See also: Electronic Arts and it's use of SecureROM, which revokes a user's administrative rights to his own system, and requires manu

I think, if workable, the new character should be female. We've got a 2 to 6 ration of females to males so far. Only Sedna and the Queen of Thorns are in. The new female-demigod should also be wearing armor of some kind, just to contrast visually with the skin-and-cleavage look of Sedna and Thorny. Take this DeviantArt image as an example of what I'm talking about: <img style="float: left;" src="http://th09.devi

CPU seems to be more of a concern for this game than GFX card. It's like SupCom in that aspect. Game really starts to chug in late-late, really big battles, due to having to run the AI for so many ships. My archaic Pentium IV CPU writhes in agony at being asked to do so much. ^_^ Yeah, Single Core, keeping it real.
