@silveusi´ve got the feeling that this is going nowhere, so this will be my last post in this thread(no offense intended)
But we still have the point i made about getting close to planets, Giant ships wont work well right next to planets or other large things, and even if they did you wouldn't want them there, for the reasons i stated before. Fighters are the only thing that could enter the planet to protect dropships and then to support ground forces.[/quo

um, that´s the point that i´ve tried to explain to you, fighters wont actually do anyting better in space, because they have almost no advantages, in either combat power, range, speed, armor, etc (speaking of a not too-far away future within the reasonable bounds of technology right now, i.e. no ftl, no magic artificial gravity, etc.) i´ve got almost no time right now, but that was the whole point, that is also explained on that site. basically

*cough* i´d like to revoke my statement that space-fare is going to be extremely expensive, i dont know wether that will be the case or not furthermore, piracy might exist too, though it will be very hard as for any reason i already explained, still it isnt impossible
Once humans get into space properly, there will be a percentage who choose to live in space.
Well even if people aren't actualy used an AI that runs a ship that needs 350 people to operate is going to be signifacantly more complicated and expensive that one that controls a 1 man fighter. I think the size, cost and complexity of the AI scales up with the number of people its replacing.
the point of an ai would be, that you dont need 350 people to monitor it, it´s the other way round (one person for lots of ai's). furthermore, an ai
And now that i have Responded to Dr. B I am going to make a list of reasons that Space fighters would still be used. 1. They are cheap. Strike craft are going to cost a fraction of the cost of even the smallest frigates. While a frigate may be overall more cost effective it doesn't actualy mean anything if you can't afford the entire frigate. Small groups such as coprate security forces and police forces can afford to field mo
