I did a couple more things... - Reinstalled Impulse, no effect - There are no other programs (as far as I know) that cause this error, in other words I tried installing another application/game and that worked fine and I did not recieve the 'error retrieving data' problem.

This almost sounds like he is soliciting to GET a free serial number. I have NEVER had this happen before because I actually buy all my software from stardock. It looks like he just installed Impulse and made a new account and hasn't bought a product so he comes here to complain about getting a new serial, which he was never entitled to in the first place. If you have a VALID issue, asking in the forums isn't the way to go, you send an email to support and then wait for their reply. M

Just what the title says exactly. I uninstalled it assuming that would fix the problem of updating, but it didn't. Only error message is: Error retrieving data. That's it and nothing else. I already tried resetting the cache data to force an inpulse update, nothing. Rebooted and that didn't work either. I don't know what else it could be other than a server problem on your end. I do remember recieving this error once before with another product and it was a pro

It STILL crashes, just not as often. Maybe once or twice a day instead of every 20-30 seconds. See the error message above because it is still the same deal. It seems to be crashing whenever the screensaver kicks on and sometimes at random. . <span style="color: #0066cc; f

The title says it all. I can't explain what's going on but the last few days it's been doing this. It worked fine a few days ago with no problems all of a sudden for the last few days it has been crashing a few seconds later after starting it. Restarting it has NO effect. Reseting the computer has NO effect. Any suggestions? <span style="color: #0066cc; font-

Sometimes, but not all the time, I will get an error box from directx on exiting certain games and/or applications. Stardiock Deskscapes: Directx was unable to initialize (CreateDeviceEx) Directx error code: -2005530516 I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Like I said this doesn't happen all the time just on occasion. I do have the latest version of DirectX 9.0c (march 2009) all my drivers are up to date as well as windows updates, etc etc. I was jus

actually there would be. If the person buying the game used a different email other then the one he/she used for their impulse account the game would never show in impulse, thusly creating a sense of panic, in otherwords 'I paid for the game but wheres my serial?/why doesn't the game show up? all you would have to do is put your email address in the support box app, as I stated earlier in this post and it would have sent any codes/info to that address, if the said address was onfile w

I have NEVER had a problem with Stardock or Paypal before. Usually entering your email addy into that 'retrieve your serial number/ account box' does the trick AND provided that it didn't get blocked by your email host. I have had that happen before which is a pain in the neck sometimes, therefore having 2 or more email addresses is a good thing. Also changing from Caffeinated to Decaf also helped me out in the long run. [e digicons][/e] I'm sorry to say

Is the Collector's Edition the same as the DD version through Impulse or are they completely different? I just wanted to know because I just recieved my retail box version of The Collectors Edition in the mail yesterday and was wondering if there were any extra's on the DVD(s) I should know about. Thanks.

After experimenting a little I got it to install and run with no credits to Stardock support. I had it up and running before they even had a chance to reply on my support ticket. I first uninstalled Impulse. Then I had to manually go through my entire windows registry and delete each individual key related to Impulse, Stardock, and Demigod. Deleted any remaining folders that had anything to do with Impulse. I left the game folders intact since they really didn't cause

I have no idea what to tell stardock support. The new beta that came out yesterday also doesn't install properly either. I can download it, install it then it just shows up as available to install again (i.e. after install it shows up NOT being installed at all.) I have uninstalled and reinstalled impulse serveral times and still nothing will fix the problem. It appears to be only with demigod and no other games. I'll contact them but I doubt they can help me out.

reinstalled again after completely uninstalling and removing the Demigod folder in C:\Program Files\Stardock Games in safe mode. Big mistake at first, got the BSOD on reboot :/ Used a previous config and rebooted fine. When I reinstalled the game this time the entire bin folder wasn't installed, actually the only file in there was Activate.lng all other files were gone, no exe's, no dll's, nothing. Oh the entire Demigod folder is read-only again :/ I have no idea what is going

to tell you the truth, i don't doubt they used file compression. I'm going to try a little experiment then get back to you with my results. the demigod folder being locked as read only has got my curiousity peaked. I'm going to see if I can force delete it in safe mode and reinstall the game then. I'm wondering if the folder being locked as read only has something to do with the game not decompressing properly. Funny though, it never failed the file verification process but I'm going to try i

actually under this particular circumstance I will have to disagree with you.... here are some screenshots of what I am talking about. and the size of dgdata.zip itself is only 1.2gigs also for some strange reason the folder is set to read only and windows won't let me unset it no matter what I try to do. size of actual game is suppose to be 2.7gigs? <img src="http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/7/1247006/images/screenshot_dg3.jpg" alt="actual size" width="1440

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall Demigod now the 2.7gig it is suppose to be is only 1.7 and the game executables are missing or corrupted? I suppose now after only getting to play the game 3 or 4 times I will have to wait till the retail release comes out. Since when does 1.7 gig download = 2.7 gig game size. Impulse crashed after the latest update so I had to re-download the game but it isn't all there or the download is corrupted. I have tried to reinstall 3 times already,

Hmm, well if you get a chance I looked further into the Comodo Firewall incompatibility. I don't know if it's a problem with the firewall itself or something in demigod's coding. 1) If you can reinstall Comodo Firewall with the default settings. 2) After it's installed make sure it is up to date as far as the version is concerned. 3) Right click on the Comodo Firewall icon in the system tray and disable BOTH Firewall Security and Defense + Security level. 4) Th

check to insure that you DON'T have Windows Firewall running along side Comodo Firewall (that is if you reinstalled). Having 2 firewalls running at the same time, although won't hurt anything, just compounds problems if your trying to figure out which one is blocking a program from firing up. LOL I just had to fix a friends computer. He was complaining about it running way to slow. Come to find out he had 2 anti-virus programs installed and they were constantly fighting with each othe
