Since Impulse is supposed to have not just for-pay material (why you changed the "store" tab to "explore"), what about hosting Open Office, Blender, GIMP, InkScape, and other tools as long as you can adhere to the GNU and other appropriate licenses? As for for-pay, Adobe CS4 would be useful, though expensive. Bryce, Xara, Truespace. Umm, the reputable spyware programs like Lavasoft, Spybot, SuperAntiSpyware. PowerDVD (

Terror stars have always annoyed me, they take loads of constructors, loads of time and loads of money to do what? Blow up a couple of stars. By the time you can get a terror star anywhere near a major enemy planet youve probably crushed them enough that they are going to surrender anyway! And the other thing Terror stars should be able to shoot individual planets. If i could just go and wipe up all the useless planets and turn them into useful mines it would be a lot easier! because

To the original post - an autonomous DRM deactivation would never work. If you gave a pirate a program with a DRM that would automatically dissassemble itself in say 2012 all they would need to do to deactivate it now is move their system clock on to 2012, and to be honest i cant see anyone having a problem with their computer thinking its the year 3000 if it gets rid of invasive DRM on a legal, or illegal program. So no, that type of DRM wouldn't work. To the guy who said platforms a

About the ships parked round a planet... i only ever do this round good planets on my empire edge and where im going to start a convoy fleet (some fighters protecting a transporter)... when im not at war the rest of my ships are flying at my borders so i can see what is in my territory (no sneaking :) )

the other thing to remember is not to put taxes too low so that your colonies arent making a profit, if you leave the difference between positive and negative to the situation with other races your walking along a tightrope... the colonies tab is useful to look at where your losing most taxes and where you can increase revenue with banks etc. so dont neglect it completely!

hmmm.. i like the ideas about using class 0 planets for something, but i think it would have to come from a different tech string - not to mention they would have to create aquatic uninhabitable, radioactive etc. This could add a lot of content to the game, and as people said theres loads of things they could be used for (heres some of mine, and a few that i liked that have been mentioned already) -Refuelling stations, be it a space station orbiting the planet, or an actual se

Ive been browsing the Explore shop on Impulse and am interested in buying some games that will be coming out soon (namely Demigod and the next sins) but, as a British resident the dollar sign has hit me. First and foremost, is there a way to change it to GBP in my settings? Then, if there isnt, would i be fully covered legally if i bought the game from Explore? And if i would would i be covered with the same terms and conditions as if i went into a shop ad bought it? W

I loved the way i was just thrown into things with this. When i started i decided 'ill just start a sandbox game, have fun, thrash the campaign then play more sandbox'. Its what i do in FPS games, and RTS games. Why shouldnt it work here? I started a game, just above normal difficulty (after all these games really dont have the right grip of how hard things are. the AI are never that hard to outwit and im quick enough if they do catch me). I played for about half an hour. I we

My strategy is to build myself up massively (culture hugging line) then, whoever refuses to love me enough i blast into the sky with my allies techs (advanced a bit mind). So I normally have 2 Production (sipbuilding) planets to 1 research planet to 7 economic planets. My economic planets normally have a maxed farm and a starter farm (i think it makes 6b to 15b) with a stock exchange a moral boost (the waterfalls) and whatever bonus tiles are there. each planet gives me LOADS of

Go into trade chat, and on the bit where it says attack/peace/surrender/alliance/treaty you will also have declare war. Just select and send that, then blow them to bits. If it isnt there and you have an alliance with that civ just select break alliance then declare war.

I tend to always play with maxed out minor races, but I'm not sure of the best way to make the most out of our little friends, do i just trade with them, or do i take advantage of their single planet and wipe them from the stars in one fell swoop?

When I colonize a planet i whack a recruiting center on it, put its morale to 100 and let it go breeding. I'll use my initial planet to build and colonize a load of others and then when my pops low on all planets ill sit back and let it grow, tweaking them all here and there. My strategy is diplomatic and culture hugging so its not uncommon for me to have an 8bill pop planet at 100% morale with 40% tax and no approval boosting buildings. So my average setup after the initial planet grab is 3/

Both the Endless Universe and the Ultimate Edition versions of GC2 are in the process of being supported on Impulse. The reason they have not been supported on release is most likely that they are compilations by Kalypso, not stardock directly. check the GC2 board for more news, there will soon be an impulse update that will add both these games to its registration and update lists.

Have you only tried on the ships list? or have you tried single left clicking the ship and single right clicking the destination? The second one the way I always use because i tend to move multiple ships into the vicinity of the planet I want to attack before I attack it (as to take it over, populate it and defend it in one turn) but i can see how using the lists could be handy for redistrobuting population between planets and freighters! Might try it myself soon!
How about telling your paying and increasingly unhappy EU customers what the status is, what's preventing you from making 2.0 available for said customers, and when approximately we can expect 2.0 to become available for us? Is "before the end of the year" a realistic estimate? Or is the problem so huge that you can't even estimate when it's going to be resolved?
So when Did EU become a subscription? Neither Kalypso or Stardock are taking money out of MY bank
