I gotta say I'm pretty tired of hearing about Forged Alliance and FAF when coming to the Ashes forum. There is a "PC Gaming" sub-forum here for a reason. Yet, we have this "Forged Alliance" thread that keeps getting bumped within the Ashes forum. It's bad form. Does the FAF forum have other game topics popping up in its dedicated forum? No, it doesn't. They appear in Off Topic. People who obsessively play one game get tunnel vision and aren't even aware of it. It makes it very

Tier 3 unit abilities are also slated for addition and I think are pretty key features. I expect they will be similar to Sins capital ship abilities where you can leave them on auto-cast or manually use them - maybe some will be passive as well. I think they are tied to levels on the unit as well (spend points on choosing abilities as you level up). Once Substrate joins the fray, then balance between the factions should be looked at before release as well. With 2 factions, getti

I actually really like the inclusion of victory points and connected nodes from CoH. They give some structure and strategy to the game at a time (alpha) when there isn't a lot of depth yet to the game. Especially in MP, it's nice to have an alternate victory condition to just straight annihilation. There are already enough defensive structures in the game to lock down key connecting nodes (the Sentinel is quite amazing with enough line of site) on defense but it would be nice to still

Agreed on every point, except for victory points (turinium is the resource name in the game I think). This is a design choice lifted from more recent Relic RTS games and it does serve a purpose and offers strategic choice. They are essentially another resource to fight over. They help prevent long drawn out stalemates and boring turtle-fests and get people fighting over map territory outside of their base area. The strategy comes from balancing how much to invest in capturing and defending th

As long as 2 factions look and play very differently from each other, it can be satisfying enough. The original Company of Heroes had just 2 and people loved it - many even wished they hadn't released the expansion that added 2 more and messed up balance. The original 2 factions were well-designed to create lots of great counter-play with different playstyles, teching, and abilities and still be balanced.

While I think the pace of the game and speed of units could be slightly faster, doubling it or tripling it is ridiculous. This is a large scale macro RTS. Somewhere in between the pace of Sins of a Solar Empire and SupCom:FA is fine. The maxed out + speed is more than a 5% increase, I'm sure. We need a default standard for multiplayer and I'd say maybe 10% faster than what is fastest currently would be a happy medium. My main concern with the game is its optimization. I meet t

[quote who="Matrix_GD" reply="2" id="3559737"]Also, is there any plans for the future of adding bonus abilities or stats or something at certain dropship levels? Like maybe a bonus to scrap or credits on mission/scenario completion? Or perhaps a bonus to dropship, building, and/or drone health the higher your dropship level is? (that would make your dropship last longer at higher levels at least, and make it so abilities never start to one shot buildings at the highest levels)[/qu

'Stop' command is already in (hotkey 'S') but it just hasn't been added to the UI yet. I agree on the 2v2 request. I think it would help get more people pulling friends into the game and is also a fun competitive mode in itself. It would probably require some larger map sizes though. I've been really enjoying the game so far. My personal feedback lately is that the default zoom/camera is a little claustrophobic and I always play zoomed out at the max -

5v5 Sins games in MP could be anywhere from 45min to 2 hours, which for me is a nice duration for these larger scale RTS games. Don't recall how long SupCom:FA matches were - probably somewhat shorter than Sins. I like the resource sector control and victory point countdown ideas from CoH here. It helps make for more to fight over on the map and reduces the chance of every game turning into a turtle-fest that drags on for hours and hours. Generally in other games you can turn off vi

There's a Steam group called Sins of a Dark Age Gold that helps organize games and sends out announcements when games are organizing. It's open for any interested to join. The beta community has been small, with various population ups and downs, but the devs are planning on ramping things up soon and a large update is on the way - more details on Steam forums for the game. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SOADAGOLD

Brad, reading your posts here, I understand where you're coming from and the nuance you bring to the topic, but your Twitter response was fairly thoughtless. One of the, if not the #1, criticism/annoyance with discussions on sexism, racism, etc. is that privileged groups often blunder into those discussions with the attempt to frequently de-rail the topic and steer it back to them. For example, on racism "Yeah, but reverse-racism is a thing too!!" for example. Your first reaction/response

1. What did Mulch's fleet consist of in the battle with your flak fleet? 2. Did he also make any effort to micro his fleet? 3. Post a replay of you winning a game (or front line battle to be precise) with a fleet of flak like this. Screenshots vs. the AI is not evidence of much. I highly recommend Dungeon of the Endless by Amplitude, Endless Space devs. It's early access at this point but under $10 and plays very stable with new content added every 2 weeks or so. It's pretty challenging but as you learn more about the game, there's enough strategy you can leverage to outweight most random bad luck stuff.

Hi Scragins1, It sounds like you've played enough vs. the AI to understand and experiment with the basics. I'd recommend reading the guides available on Steam Community by GoaFan77 (poster above) and Grimm (more advanced MP tactics). If you are used to playing RTS MP in general, know the ship counters, how to efficiently expand, which the best capital ships are and when to use their abilities, know the tech trees well, etc. then you're pretty much ready to j
