I talked with the developer of this game and here is the fix that they recommend in the event anyone else has an issue with this game...... "The movie files are encoded in MPEG-1 format, and FFDShow is usually the reason why it hangs in this manner. I purchased Al Emmo and the lost dutchmans mine on 4-25-08 and cannot get past the opening movie when playing on Vista Ultimate. I checked to see if i was running ffdshow as outlined in a post i found on the web and that was not the problem. I discovered that if i hold down the esc key when choosing a new game or to load a game, the movie doesn't play and i jump into the game. Yes, this is still an issue with the 1.90.026 version. One game that comes to mind that causes this is Neighbors from Hell on Vacation. As mentioned, it seems to do this when the resolution is changed from the default and then back to the default. It only seems to be affecting the tabbed dock at the top center of my screen. This also did this on my previous computer. Just for the heck of it, i tried the latest beta version as well and that too exhibits the same behavior.
I thought that maybe this issue would have been addressed in future releases but it still does this. It definitely is when a game or other application changes the resoulution and then restores it to native. OD tabs don't seem to follow suit when the resolution is changed back to default.
I tried the reboot---install---reboot technique and it seems to have fixed many problems. At least enough so that I can run it. The problem with the Rocket Dock app was the same as what is being reported about the standard mouse cursor returning in the drop down menus etc. I just uninstalled Rocket Dock and went back to Object Dock Plus. As far as OS, as i mentioned, it is Vista Ultimate. I disabled as many apps as i could so really nothing else that i can think of that was running at the time would've caused the problems. I was running the latest release version of FX plus.(2.00.004) One game that i know for sure with problems was "Farm Frenzy". The cursor wouldn't appear at all with that one. Just a follow up...I finally just had to uninstall this from Vista Ultimate. Random problems with changing themes (sometimes required a restart as nothing happened when i changed themes.)Sometimes it would do some really weird things (odd sounds and problems with effects.) For the brief time that it ran, it looked awesome. Hopefully the bugs will get fixed soon.
My wife plays a lot of games from MSN (zone.msn.com). When the game loads, if Cursor FX Plus is running, the mouse isn't visible. In essence, Cursor FX won't work with most any of those games. I really like the mouse cursors and effects that are available with Cursor FX Plus and this is a real shame.

I have been having a lot of "Blue Screen" crash dumps during startup recently. I tried preventing everything i could think of, except wb6, from starting at startup to no avail. I got this working. I never figured out why it quit but, i wound up moving all of my downloaded dreams into the default deskscapes dream directory. I still didn't have any dynamic dreams working but the Dynamic Wallpaper Settings link did work and once i tried changing the background picture for the liquid dream it started working again. Figured that i would post what worked for me in case someone else has this issue. I am running an Nvidia 8800 GTS with forceware 158.24 if that helps.

I'm sure there's a reason but it doesn't appear to be due to installing anything obvious. I haven't installed anything and the last windows update was done on 7-1-2007. Virus scans all turn up clean and there are no other apparent problems. I'll keep digging around though..... Also, i noticed that when i click on the Dynamic Wallpaper Settings link, nothing happens. If i click on the Performance link, i do get the Performance options dialog.
I have been running deskscapes on my vista ultimate system for awhile now without any problems. However, yesterday all of my dynamic deskscape dreams have refused to run at all. All of my other dreams (i.e. ones that are not dynamic)are working fine including the regular windows dreams. I am using a geforce 8800 GTS graphics adapter if that is relevant. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling deskscapes. Thanks in advance for all of your help.
Is there a problem with wb 5.5 sound effects? I noticed that the skin "encoded" which supposedly has sound effects isn't working. I have checked the override settings section to be sure that the sounds are enabled and they are.
Iam using Object Dock plus 1.50. I have it docked to the top edge and approxiamtely in the center of my screen. Whenever i finish running a direct draw application, OD+ always redraws itself to the left side of the screen. I have tried the "Lock Dock Position" option to no avail. While this is only mildly annoying it is annoying none the less. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE ** This was apparently an issue with wincustomize. There must be a lot of things going on since the site update as my wincustomize browser doesn't work well at all. Most of the libraries update very sporadically, and many times the downloads fail. I must say that i do regret buying the wincustomize subscription mainly to get the browser. I own most of the Stardock apps and have for quite some time. The wc browser doesn't come close to the excellent software that i have grown accustomed to
