Thank you for the reply. Is it worth it to dedicate the time and resources for the techs to build one in the scenarios/campaign? Are the anomalies that detrimental to winning a scenario? Or does it depend on the specific mission objective(s)? Thanks for any more info.

Greetings. I have not played in a long, long time. So . . . I am starting the TOA campaign. I thought I was supposed to start with a survey ship. Am I confused or what? I sure is heck don't have one! Thanks for any replies.
I have had this series for about a year. I play off and on, but I just can seem to get immersed into the game. The graphics are top notch, the interface is clean and intuitive, and the overall concept of the game is enticing. However, I just cannot seem to keep myself playing. It just seems like I build ships, jump to another system, attack, establish a presence, build more ships, jump to another system, . . . . . I am not knocking the game at all, it just may be that it is no
I am playing a campaign mission and I have no survey ship. I thought they were de facto? Of course there a bunch of anomalies about and I have no way to investigate. Do I need to research the tech too? Thanks for any advice.
I have finally figured out what bothers me about the textures in this series - the textures are too gorgeous and pristine. I don't feel they convey the extreme environment of space. Are there any texure mods that model this?

Kyro - Thanks for the reply. What opens .err files? I found the file, but I cannot open it to copy and insert into the body of the message. Thanks.
Greetings. It seems after an OS reinstall I am having all kinds of problems. Previous to my reinstall, I never had an iota of trouble. Very bug/issue free. Here is the low-down: Let me preface my problem by stating that I received some sort of "setsdaff" error on install. I could skip/ignore and continue. It seems this a .net issue, so I brought that up to speed. I can't remember if I received the error after my most recent reinstall. I reinstalled
It seems after a reinstall my spaceship graphics are wonky. On many of the ships there are what I can best describe as lines of color that extend from some of the spaceships.. This occurs in the game and in all the expansions - fully patched. My setup is as follows: 8800 GT, AMD 5600 x2, 2 gigs of RAM and the latest version of DX. Thanks for any help.
Mumblefratz - My sincere thanks. You have answered my questions to the point. I could have, of course, through trial and error and thumbing through the digital manual discovered the answers, but learned and experienced players on this forum are a much better source of knowledge. Thanks again!
The upgrade system still confounds me. I play off and on and it is so long between sessions sometimes I can never seem to get the hang of things. Regardless, I love the game I keep coming back for more. Here is my current conundrum: How do I upgrade a ship design without resetting the entire weapons/shields configuration? It seems when I click on a custom ship design, then select "upgrade" the interface preserves the hull design and all the cosmetic goodies but ix-nays
I am getting back into the game, and I am having trouble enabling fleet combat or I misunderstanding the concept. My current battles, even with fleets formed via the form fleet button, are just quick affairs that use the standard map graphics. That does not seem like fleet combat. My understanding is that the screen changes to focus on the combat so the player can view and understand the dynamics of the game better. Is that the case? If so, where do I enable this? The tutorial mentions this,
I am positive I saw a mod somewhere that added extra ship parts. I for the life of me cannot find it. Am I losing my mind? If it exists, where is it? Thanks for any info.
Okay - I finally got around to firing up the game again. I play intermittently, so I can't always keep things straight. Here is my problem: I am tasked to disrupt the alliance between the Dread Lords and the other alliance (I can't reacall which it was). I destroyed the other faction, but I just cannot beat the Dread Lords. I finally beat one of their ships after sending a few waves of my paltry fighters after them. The only thing left on their planet is a starbase and
I suppose one other option would be to copy the contents of the DVD onto a USB stick and to then copy it from the USB stick to your desktop. Note that you are going to want to install Impulse to register and update the game anyway.
That would have been one of my eventual attempts had registering and downloading not worked !
You sir, have my sincere thanks. I will contact Customer Service/Support as well. Thanks!
Greetings. I purchased the Game of the Year Edition and my computer will not recognize the DVD. My laptop recognizes the disc fine. I tried a few tricks, with no luck. Spcefically, I get the generic DVD icon in Explorer with a prompt to insert a disc when I try to run, explore, etc. I am running Windows Vista and an NEC DVD. I searched to see if this is a known issue with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this? I might try to copy the disc to a protabl

Grettings - It seems I cannot quite understand the ship upgrade process. For some reason my simpleton brain cannot figure it out. So, here I am asking for help . . . I will explain as best I can: Let's say I have a ship. I will dub it "DethKillar." [e digicons][/e] I want to upgrade it. So, I select said ship in the shipyard to upgrade. It is a stock ship, provided by the game, no upgrades whatsoever. I want it to shoot, so I add a
Thanks, I will give it a try next time I play.
I am still learning the interface, and I cannot find this info in the manual or tutorial. So, how do I enable the battle window? I have only been in battle a few times, as I am still new the game and actually, I just learned of the battle window via an info popup as the game was loading. I figured there would be a toggle button, I sure as heck cannot find it! Thanks for any help.
It seems I cannot find a way to review mission objectives within a mission. Can this be done? If so, how? Thanks for any help!
I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to install modules on starbases. I assume that I need to posess certain technologies to install related modules. But, I have a message under my current starbases that states there is one module available. I guess it is either a standard, very low tech module of one that I have alread researched. I think most of my starbases have this message but when I select them I can't seem to figure out how to install them. The manual is very vague. &nb
