Yeah, you need a ridiculous amount of seeker vessels to do that, even to a virgin starbase. Itd only take 6-7 for scouts.

There's really only a handful of "experts" who use smurfs regularly. I've noticed that a lot of Vanilla sins players will create a new account after buying entrenchment. That makes a lot of pretty tough smurfs. I've also found that if you ask, a lot of people will tell you if they're a smurf or not. A good smurf indication is the wins to games played ratio. Honestly though the guys who create new accounts to purposefully stack teams just to win are a-holes, but thats nothing new. A-holes are
Ok, Here's an idea. It will only work if you are only a few jumps away from your enemies HW but if you do it right, you'll be in good shape. The main idea here would be to rush Timed explosives and take out your opponents means of either production (factory), or production of Lrms(labs). Start out by building 2 military labs a Marza and a good deal of scouts (8-12). Don't forget to get a colonizer frigate after a few scouts have been produced. Soon as the Marza is done scuttle the cap ship

When playing in a big team game like that, NEVER assume your opponent doesnt have enough resources for something. I played in the same situation with ReborN the other day except I was Vasari. I came in on his roid with 9 assailants and an egg, with some sentinels coming. I took down his constructors FIRST then took down his cap before it could get away. Unfortunately for me he got maximum planet health on the roid and had already built a temple of communion at his hw AND colonized an ice plan
by the way, scouts can't take out mines themselves.
You said you don't play entrenchment, so you really don't know what you're talking about do you? Yes scouts can take out mines themselves. Not advised to let them do it alone, send some flak frigates with them. But if you think about it any ship can take out mines, just not quite cost effective as you'll lose the ship. Best to go with scouts and a couple of flaks. And if you're thinking mines = extractors, you'
Oh, and something you should probably add. Having scouts on hand to keep tabs on your opponents and checkout enemy gravwells before you jump into them can be the difference between winning and losing. Intelligence is one of your best weapons, so gather it and use it.
Like I said before, focus your fire. You don't want to end up with just one frigate auto-attacking a capital ship (though I'm sure the AI is smarter than that). This allows you to take down each ship one at a time quickly, so that that's one less attacker, one less attacker, and so on. This allows your fleet to survive more battles
Good advice most of the time. I'll add though that ther are some instances where letting your ships target by themselves is more benefici
Banned for calling Chuck Norris B-Grade, when in reality he's the letter before A-grade. Chuck Norris-Grade. I'm going to ban myself for continuing to talk about Chuck Norris on a post other than "Chuck Norris facts".
So the Deliverance Engine is the only Superweapon that is unaffected by Starbases, interesting. I mean, if novaliths can't destroy the planet, and it would take a ridiculous amount of Kostura warheads to destroy a fully upgraded starbase, than the Deliverance Signal gets a little boost in effectiveness eh? That's not to say it makes the other two completely useless Since Novaliths can still take your population to 0 (thus reducing tax income) and Kosturas can still disable stuff (and potentia

I got into a situation today that made me wonder, does the starbases upgrades that prevent loss of a planet through bombardment work against Novaliths? I had a SB at my hw and my hw was destroyed by a couple of novalith shots, after recolonizing i decided to test it out and upgraded enforced loyalty, unfortunatley my opponent didn't fire on the planet again, but I would assume that it would work, can anyone confirm this?
You may have had him outnumbered in the outset. But you should have known he'd have bombers. Know what you're opponent is working with before he takes out your fleet with it. That's probably the reason you lost. Don't engage in a battle like that with ships that aren't going to help. With 45 carriers loaded with bombers and 60 javs, the guy left himself wide open to a fighter spam ANNIHILATION, as fighters are the hard counter for both of those units, 26 drone hosts is definetly not enought t
10-15 mins depending on the size of the field
Do you have any idea how long that actually is in game? I REALLY don't think it takes that long. I'd say it'll take from 45-90 seconds if you fly your flak frigates and scouts in a fleet formation straight through a minefield at a decent pace. Flaks are great at taking down mines, especially since they can take a couple hits from some and keep chugging along, a single one can target 4 at a time (eventhough 1 will take a coup
Thanks for the heads up Amish, but I had read that one before, and apparently I'm not the only one. It works sometimes, and doesn't others. Actually the most information on beating the strategy I've gathered is by playing it against competent opponents, but what I've gathered from that is that its still an extremely difficult strategy to counter, I played it 3 times today, and won with it twice. The third time I got trapped in a corner by a guy (Mhiggy) who had gone eco
Hc will counter illums.
Well thats a no brainer, but it's kinda hard to get them out in force before 30 illums come tearing through your system, especially when all they'd have to do to cripple you is destroy one of your military labs.
Scout him so that you can find out if he is rushing to get illums. If he has 3 mil labs early, then quickly attack him with scouts before he gets too many illums. Scouts kill LRMs, but getting enough to counter 30 illums is
Alright strategy buffs, help me out here, Barring the use of Missile Barrage, how does one counter an illuminator spammer as Vasari or TEC? I've tried the hard counter with carriers, but I can't seem to kill them fast enough with fighters, at least not before the spammer can get 3 or 4 drone hosts out or a bunch of defense vessels. For a scale reference I'm talking about around 30 illuminators, I can usually get between 7-12 carriers out by that time, depending on my start. I'll kill
I dont know why i think that.
It's because the word "near" is a synonym for close, while "nearly" is a synonym for almost, and also that a "miss" is a noun, while "missed" is a verb. To say "near miss" (adjective modifying a verb) is the opposite of saying "nearly missed"(adverb modifying a verb), eventhough they use the same base words. One hears "nearly missed" more often in natural conversation, hence, being the same base words, we tend to want to think it means the
Dec. 21 2012
The end of the Mayan calendar. Maybe it means doomsday, or maybe the Mayans didn't feel like going any further with it. To them this date was hundreds of years away. I think the Mayan guy who came up with this was probably like "eh, that's as far as I'll go for now, someone else will keep this going in a couple hundred years." rather than "this is the day the world (as we know it) ends." But I'm not a psychic and I don't have a time machine, so who knows, m

It's probably because I've never read the books, but I think Star Wars lost that battle with Jar Jar. Star wars games however are infinitely more badass than Trek. So there's that. But if you want to make it about the movies, I'm going with the Trekkies. It'd be fucking scary to have a bunch of Borg Jedi though.. God I'm such a geek.
As far as capitalism is concerned, this is the second time in 100 years it has failed and collapsed. This time with a much greater global impact. Capitalism is a great system, don't get me wrong, but we need to use it responsibly. The way I see it Capitalisms pro is its rate of growth (economically), while its con is its instability. Socialisms pro is its stability and con is a comparably lower rate of growth. I figure if we find some comfortable medium we can get the best of both worlds.
I liken Impulse to the Blizzard Updater from Warcraft 3 and before. Unintrusive, simple purpose program. Sure it has some added features that help the companies as well as the customers, but essentially its the same thing. I only use it when I need a patch or when I wanted to purchase Entrenchment.
Yeah also, anti-structure ship armor is super weak to Fighters, upgrade SB for strikecraft or have a couple of hangars in the gravwell and say bye bye Adjudicators and Orgrovs. No indeed no nerf necessary. Did i mention Structures are the ONLY things those ships can even attack. Even a fleet of Siege frigates will do some damage to your fleet. A fleet of anti-structure ships does nothing. Also i've found mines to be rather effective too, as the AS cruisers can't attack them, you won't have a
