Basically the same way as changing the video mode, go into your CFG text file (in the main folder) and there's an option that's something like "Window:no" and you change the no to a yes. Fixed me right up. The RTS sections still go into full screen but don't have any errors. And I had the same effect when I changed the video mode, took just slightly longer to crash :) Hopefully the windowed mode fix will help.

New person with the same problem here. The black screen stays up maybe a second longer but then crashes back to desktop again after trying to video mode change. Works in windowed mode now, though!
