Superbreeder is hands down the best superability in the game, if the AI would utilize it in the same way a player can the Torians would dominate all other AI's in every game.

not really.... huge hulled warships take way more maintenance as well as these ships are precious and costly you have to stick with em. tiny fighters can easily upgraded into tiny constructors or so you simply don't keep them in times of peace. the same with the starbases. starbase maint is not an issue really but once you get past the initial ones you have to pay a hefty fee everytime you build a new one, and that's precisely why you destroy them on your inne
Most of the time you may want to use them defensely, esp. when you're kinda overhelmed with war and the enemy is too strong for your fleets to survive a direct attack. Find out where he/they are going to attack, built bases there. Wait for him. You may want to have enough miniaturization and also planetary production to get a single tiny constructor out each turn. Once a certain amount ship-support is reached, alternate to produce cheap 1att 1def tiny fighter, although if the mps

Arceans have slow but fairly strong - most of the time big - ships, their SA compensates them fully if they get attacked. However, their speed penalty is responsible to stiffle their colonialisation.
What bugs me is that really fast ships don't receive any bonus in combat. I think that the faster a ship is (and the smaller it is), the harder it should be to hit. Perhaps not realistically, given the futuristic technology be
The Torians have it even worse. Going from Schools to University increase the buildcost from 25 to 100 and the maintenance from 1bc to 4bc, while the research only increases by 4rp. Going to City of Learning then triples the buildcost (100 -> 300) and doubles the maintenance (4bc -> 8bc) for only 2rp more output. How does that make any sense? Granted, the Torians are supposed to be bad at research, but this is just rubbing it in. Also, who
For the Yor, it's not that bad once you reach Enhanced Collectives. While 3bc maintenance for 9mp production isn't great, it is much better compared to the 5bc for 8mp of the Xeno Factory. The buildcost of 150 is also reasonable. Just a little more than double the original cost. Considering that this is the second improvement to the basic Collective it is still okay. Once you research Superior Collectives, however, things change dra
While I understand your reasoning, and even agree in general, I have to disagree in this case. I don't think it's fun when a game wants you to do something (e.g., using high-tier improvements), sometimes even forces you to do it (auto-upgrade), and then punishes you for doing it (high buildcost and maintenance). It's also not good when such an important decision is only available to the player. The AI will always use the most advanced
My greatest concerns or disbalances so far with TOTA are 2 things. First, you can trade pretty much everything via Influence Points, esp. all his money, and if it doesnt work then with money + IP combined, just trade back all your money with IP [e digicons]v_v[/e] all treaties, money, scouts, defenders, unused freighters/miners, all outdated warships, even whole fleets! (must not have declare war prior to this) basically you can keep your MMR pretty high and the AI
Unfortunately there are many reasons why you wouldn't want to upgrade to the next generation of planet improvements. For instance, when upgrading from a Manufacturing Center to an Industrial Sector, you get a gain of +2 industry +4 maintenance. The upgrade generation before that and many before that was +2 industry +1 maintenance, so Industrial Sectors are a relatively terrible deal. Plus the construction costs for an Indus

Greetings, I've played alot of games in DA but mostly ignored TotA cause of lower score (MV) but now I came back to GC2 to play just 4 fun and thus picked the newer expansion which seems to be a lot of fun with different techtrees, esp. if you disable techbrokering/trading. [e digicons]:D[/e] I'm currently managing +100 worlds but am faced with some kind of disturbance. For example on a new world I ruhsbuy 2 basic factories then proceed to built 4 basic stalks (which
I think that engines take up way too much space for what they do. Sure you can get to a fight faster, but when you get there, you're at a disadvantage vs. the guy who just put guns on his ships. If you've added a bunch of global speed boosts, won't that diminish the usefulness of engines even further?
A surplus of speed gives you the advantage to be able to choose the fight, so just evaluate

Well, let's assume you're playing without foreign techs then building super-econ planets with the Yor is not possible, as their only economic structure (the Efficiency Center) is 1-per-planet only. However, researching down their "Efficiency Studies" techtree will give you +45% econ increase, alongsinde with the +25% from the structure, as well as +10% from racial which will built up together as +80% throughout all planets which is quite strong, although not so strong as other

Usually they will upgrade their ships just to what they have have researched lately instead of analysing the ships of their enemys with whom they are currently at war (or maybe plan to conquer/start war)
btw what's up with the char- or guildpics in the MV, don't show up anymore...? edit: currently installing the game :D was watching some Youtube and forgot how enchanting some of these soundtracks were (spacethemes) !! [e digicons]\o/[/e]
I've played a handful of games recently, not for score, but just for fun. Huge or Gigantic abundant maps with everything but influence or conquest victory turned off, and foregoing any of the exploitative tactics that have been used for scoring in the past. I played until it was obvious I was going to win, then stopped. The cleanup part at the end of the game becomes too tedious to play til the end. <br /
Hi, in a short game on a small map etc such behaviour could be helpfull esp. in the very beginning of the game (ie the colonizialisation of your homesystem) but pls notice that reloading will resett your influental zone; thus, on a bigger map you will make less bc through tourism; and if you are aiming to achieve a cultural victory or try to snap foreign planets to your empire then this chance will also be decreased. I've not done any maths to the method you're describ
You took a very interesting approach tot his game. Personally I think it's unlikely that you will ever win such a game - assuming you exclude Technological or Cultural Victory from your options of winning over other races. This has a reason and it's all grounded in the way the diplomacy system in GalCiv2 works --> straight to war. You have 3 factions there who despise themselves, to not be it enough even within these factions there are some inbuild penalties which distort intrafact
