Microing counting for illusions is as easy as using the empire tree to target rather than directly clicking the unit. If you are not targeting ANY real illums with a SB thats your own fault for not targeting a real one(easily done with empire tree). Any damage to other units is not controllable to a good extent so that would in fact be damage wasted. I have went against an orky on repeated occasions with 40 illums and a progen and let me tell you it isn't that easy to kill e

50 kodiaks is a lot more focused firepower and a lot more resources than a 3 defense orkulus. Should it be surprising to you that 3 upgrade SB should die to a 500 supply in just HC fleet that took a LOT more resources and time to build? 50 HC is what an orkulus killing fleet should consist of if you are going to do it conventionally rather than bombers. One would hope you would at least have subverters to stop them if the enemy has 50 kodiaks against you rathe

Granted fake illums can decrease the amount of dps to real ones for lack of targeting with each individual weapon but SB can target stuff. It is easy to tell the difference between real and fake. The fakes only last 2 minutes out of 3 minutes anyways and in that minute every illum is real and receiving fire. The thing is though that half of the illums damage is in side beams(50% front and 25% for each side) and they dont use side beams when fighting a SB. Plus frontal

I will agree with minds. Illums suck against an orkulus thats even somewhat upgraded unless you have an overwhelming fleet with support(destra work much better at this cause illums don't use sidebeams against SBs and destra are tougher to kill and damage is more focused). You are pretty much forced to use bombers to kill them because engaging in them directly will result in an unacceptable amount of fleet loss for the value you get unless the orky is not upgraded and you have an o

It sounds as if you are using normal start(uncommon online). Quick start negates any of that because you can plop down 3 labs right off the bat. Forgoing your first cap is a bad thing too because it is a good amount of firepower, completely free in quick start(and next to free in normal after putting down a cap factory) and can withstand damage better while bombing. Plus a marza would even make the bombing of a HW even quicker if you are trying to quick kill a HW w

B-Tec, that would only work if your enemy was decently far away from his hw(not likely early game) and you caught him completely by surprise. Bringing the cobalts in first would obviously alert him to an attack at his hw and bring his fleet back. Any siege frigates would be chewed up right after they jumped in because they are strong as tissue paper and give a lot of cap experience. Early HW rushes can work well but they usually require a couple of caps and for tec at least

I am not an expert on TEC by any stretch since I play advent. First thing you should do is scout and see where your enemy is. Some orders depend on where my allies are and thus where my enemies are likely to be. If I am suicide slot(in which I am likely to be 2v1) then you should generally build a colonizer cap in case you have to make a run for it and go for starbase. If I am likely to be econ with an ally in close proximity on either side then you should not bui

The term smurf is used referring to people that are experienced/pro that make a new name attempting to hide their skill/identity. It is crappy because you never know what you are getting on your team and can lead to unfairly balanced teams and thus a win for the smurf. So anyone that is unknown with few stats could possibly be some well known player pretending otherwise so they can stack a team in their favor. It is very unfair to noobs who get accused of being a smurf and b

Any build order depends a lot on your surroundings/map and whether you are playing on multiplayer or single player. You can get away with a lot more on single player. If you are playing multiplayer and put 2 civ labs up with someone less than 4 jumps away then you are begging to be rushed by anyone halfway competent. [_]-Greyfox

You only say that because you smurf more than you don't smurf sunny. It keeps getting said because its just that annoying to those of us that don't smurf. And to allegiance, they shouldn't have to prove themselves new but there is no way for newcomers to prove they are actually new except for sucking persistently and by that point it doesn't matter anyways. The smurfs are trying to pretend to be new to the detriment of the actual new players just for some team stacking adv

With shield projection, progens are a must. If you dont have a progen for it then its a waste of money for the most part. It is best to use shield projection when you are against a starbase or strike craft so the damage can be spread out and shield restore is more useful. Shield restore becomes more powerful with the spreading because when you are in a regular fight things tend to be focus fired and you are really only healing 1 or 2 ship shields for the duration of shield r

The right time to get guardians depends a lot on the situation. I personally love to use them given the opportunity because you can cut down the effective dps against your fleet with proper usage so you can divide the enemies fleet and work on it a piece at a time. If someone is leaning heavily on HC then that is the time to get them. I use them when I want to seperate out hoshis or caps from a fleet. I also use them to augment my defense of SBs(either pushing tow

Buffing DPS on 1 or 2 caps is insignificant standing against the 50 percent increase(from 50% to 75%) to their current dps that you are suggesting to the much cheaper and abundant LF. The infocard on disciples give it 10 damage (all front). You are proposing it does 7.5 compared to caps compared to 5 that was previous. An increase of 50 percent(to front only) to a cap will get you maybe 10 more damage. THat is 4 disciples to make up for the increase you

I am not ignoring your cap buffs in general. You did not increase the total hp by 25 percent so it is not keeping it on an even keel. Even if you did, any cap can die to a swarm of light frigates and not be able to even run away so all your buffs are for nothing because a LF rusher can kill you before you get it to level 2 or 3. SC do shit to LF. Caps can only fire on so many things at once and there is a certain point at which the zerging is too much for a cap to hand

212 Replies 458,310 Views

You do realize that if you increase damage to caps from LF that it will make tier 0 spam(LF and scouts) even worse than it is now? You are also suggesting removing even further the reason to build lrf to counter the LF. Ever have your cap surrounded by 50 or more scouts and LF and see it die from a thousand paper cuts because it can't move to even jump out of the well? You are suggesting to make that much much worse. Just FYI. [_]-Greyfox</p

I don't mind having new players in games if the teams are balanced with them in mind. The thing is you never know what you are getting because of smurfs and the whole point of them smurfing is to lie/deceive others about who you are so its rare that they will tell the truth. Generally smurfs are uncovered because they play like certain players or they tell someone and word quickly spreads. This is generally when they make a NEW smurf. Anyone with no or little reco

5 or 6 kostura can kill practically a whole fleet and there is little that you can do about it other than stay on enemy or neutral ground until you can kill them. It does do damage in addition to the stun so it can in fact kill things. It also opens up a temporary phase gate to the system that it hits. This makes the kostura the best superweapon in my opinion. Generally it depends on my fleet and the opposition fleet. If you think you can kill the cap without it getting away to repair then kill the cap. If there is a good chance that it will get away to a repair then kill frigates. Sometimes I will only partially attack the cap(with sidebeams from my illums or a few frigates until I get it damaged enough to switch over and hope for a kill before it gets away. If it is allowed to get away then thats fire thats wasted and

I have seen Abaddon do this as well. Most people that are mentioned for this are not those that think they can dig in and still win. It wouldn't generally be mentioned unless someone just went afk or something and left it running to grief you into having to kill ALL the enemy. [_]-Greyfox
