Quoting Beric01, reply 26 The i7 overclocks like crazy though (see my previous post). You can easily boost its speed by 50% without problem. Correct, and that is on AIR cooling, sometimes even the stock cooler can get it that high... But since Amish does not want to assemble his new rig, who knows if he is willing to overclock it.
I wrote in my previous post about directron.co
AMD also tries to make their new cpus work in older motherboards which is a great move. Intel though, you have to change the motherboard every time you upgrade to a new generation.... The AMD Phenom II is more costeffective then iCore 7 and it has been like that since the 1700+ days or so. If an AMD Phenom II gives (just a simple example) 10 in performance for 100$ then an iCore 7 gives 15 in performance for 200$.<br
Quoting Whiskey144, reply 42Autocannons are just REALLY big automatic weapons. In space. In a 1000+ years, the best we can do... no wonder the TEC is getting pwned in the sins story
I think that was the point.
Back on topic: you can bet your ass I'll be reading quite thoroughly what changes are being made in Diplomacy. Between college/boozing/school work and Sins, diplomacy needs to be quite enticing for me to choose the latter. Hell yeah tey better be rolling on gold brick when they release it.
Yup. I'm happy to buy if it's good. If not, I'll save my money and voice my displeasure at IC's silence and lack of communication.

So my question was this. Is is realistic that a smaller ship can, with a much smaller engine, move much faster than a big ship with huge engines? i.e., does mass apply on this scale in space?

So what about the existence of strike craft, being low-mass ships which have much smaller engines than larger ships, and yet move much faster? What role does mass play in space?

Make double sure you've got the latest drivers. I've got an i7 920 and a GTX 260, and updating drivers fixed my crashing problem. Also, in Impulse, you can verify your installation or something like that.

Amish, try out http://www.directron.com/ . They'll let you select all your parts, and they'll build it for you for $29 . Here's the rig I ordered from them a month ago: Cooler Master HAF 922, with at least 8 fans (all 60 CFM and up) Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel Core i7 920 D0 2.66 Ghz, overclocked to 4.0 Ghz. MSI GTX 260, factory overclocked 6GB Patriot DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

I really want some 1.03 replays. I'm getting ready to go online for the first time, and want to get an idea of how to play vs. humans. Watched Uber's game. Very interesting to be sure. 2 guys feeding their enemy.

Yup. I've got a killer rig, but my connection is terrible. Unfortunately I have to go wireless (can't route ethernet upstairs), and in a suburban area, there is a ton of interference. I may give multiplayer a first try, but it all depends on my connection. Unfortunately, being away, all I have to play is a Macbook with a GM 950. [e digicons]:([/e]

What I want in an expansion is vastly improved AI. I play a lot of singleplayer and LAN, and have a fairly nice machine. Having better AI, and the option to still further increase the AI skill via higher CPU usageage would be great. While multiplayer is fine and all, advanced AI is something everyone who's not a multiplayer expert could use. There's planty of topics here on the AI's greatest weaknesses in Entrenchment, but <a title="here's" href="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/360800"

Looks pretty complicated, even for a strategy buff like me. I'll wait a bit and see what the reviews say. The demo certainly did a god job of showing how massive the game is.
Its your RAM that will be your biggest roadblock in performance. The bigger the map and the bigger the fleets the more it gonna eat up. You really need an extra GB of RAM or 2 beyond what normal SINS requires. If your shy turn down the graphics will help, but may not solve the problem. Me and Nacey did some testing a good while back, and I was blow away on how fast the RAM usaged scaled as you explored the
I've seen a number of people ask whether or not they should purchase Entrenchment, and, in light of this thread, I'm kind of wondering if single players might be better off not getting Entrenchment simply because it might put the AI at a greater disadvantage as a result of the increased complexity. HdaBoy, have you considered just not playing Entrenchment and playing it in Regular Sins and perhaps trying out community
