With 1.04 coming out soon, is there any hope for a current version of 7DS?

Yup, between the AI's suicides on starbases and the AI' pathetic usage of siege frigates, as well as the AI's completely random choices of cap ships, the AI still needs some fixing.
Darvin's got it exactly right. The AI needs a fix, not just the frigates themselves. Thanks for the support! Should we email this thread to the devs or something?
Whoa! Major and much-needed changes! The Devs exist! [e digicons]8C[/e] Only sad thing is it means all mods will have to be updated yet again. 7DS still isn't compatible with 1.03, and not we have 1.04. And Distant Stars will have to be updated.
I agree this is a gaping whole with the siege frigates, ultimately crushing their empire. But my question remains: why don't the devs just fix it?
I disagree completely. I think the AI resigns much too late, after the struggle is already over and there is just the redious process of wiping out planets. The AI usually fights to the last, when I'm just ready for another game.
Please something more specific than "late fall".
What about modes where planet exploration items become more frequent? Or where everyone starts off with 1 of each lab and say 4 techs already researched? Or everyone starts with their "worst cap" already built, and has to live with it or scuttle it?
I'm currently trying to figure out the most viable usage and suggested order of labs and logistics slots. I always play on quickstart. I currently don't play online, and any corrections/ suggestions towards forming a strategy for this would be great. IMO, the first 2 crucial techs are LRM's (different for each race), and the 2 labs for the volcanic/ice planet that is near you. You probably also want to save 4 slots on each planet for future trade ports, so you don't hav
Yup. It's all up to the devs. Hence why I posted a thread in the main forum about the AI and siege frigates, hoping the devs will see it.
I was NOT trying to open a discussion about multiplayer. I was suggesting that if the devs simply fixed this issue, and of course the suicides on starbases and the random picks of capital ships, the AI would be much more competent. Meaning a significantly better SP experience. All I'm saying is I know the main issues with the AI right now. I can't currently play multiplayer anyway. My PC is wireless only, being upstairs, and in my area, there is a TON o
It would have been nice to tell us *ahem* 6 months ago *ahem*, "our PR person won't allow us to say anything about Diplomacy." Or did your PR person not allow you to say that either? Nothing has been worse for PR than having the devs not saying a thing, IMO. And now we're all supposed to come back, snuggle up, and forget about those 6 months of silence?
I play a lot of LAN AI crushers with my brother. The AI is actually pretty competent. But it has a few distinct holes. Other than the obvious issue with the AI and starbases, as well as its completely arbitrary choices of capital ships, it seems like the main issue is with siege frigates. Since I play with the AI so much, I can't help mentioning the issues with siege frigates and the AI. Maybe, just maybe, the devs will read this and spend even 15 minutes improving this for us poor SP people.

I've run it on a GMA950. It works, but gets SLOW later in the game.
Preordered. Can't wait for the beta. Anyone know when it will be out?
Yeah, the music is great. Coming from a classical side myself, I like how it almost integrates various types of music.
BTW, the mod is much more stable with the latest release. Good work!

So as Vasari, is it better to get only Eggs? Also, as Advent, today I figured out just how awesome Radiance + Rapture + Progenitor is. Use Vengeance on the Radiance. Use Animosity. If you have a level 5 Rapture, that's 200% damage retaliation. Now ships around will be forced to attack your Radiance, and take 200% retaliation. Add a Progenitor for shield restore and you're set, restoring all three. With just those 3 caps, I easily took down a fully-upgraded starbase whic
BTW, the mod is incredibly stable since the fix. Good work. However, IMO, the Advent still are OP. [e digicons][/e]
Can you make the custom maps part of the mod, so that they don't clutter up the Galaxy Forge screen when we aren't playing DS (i.e. they disappear when the mod isn't enabled)?
Yup, Distant Stars mod is the way to go. Cap Ships are GOOD.
Like others were saying, it seems like IC is going the way of CA with the Total War series. And could IC not even spare one (1) guy 10 minutes to make a post on the official forums here giving the dedicated fans here some additional info about the expansion? And again, why no official video? And the news page on the front of the site still says nothing about the presentation at PAX. This is about as anti-climactic as possible. Does IC want its fans to give
Those stats aren't for the current version right? Cause I'm sure they aren't that powerful right now. Or is that after research?
