Glad to help, only reason I'm not beta-testing and helping out more is because there's no way to get LiveSync to work behind my Uni firewall. I haven't tried using 16 bit files with the Dev.exe, but I've played full games with 16 bit sheets before without a hitch :). To be honest, I only realised Sins didn't care when I started modding your UI files a while back and wasn't actually sure which format sins wanted it in,

Stress, I don't know if you guys have looked into it yet, but when I was modifying the UI for my own version, I noticed that sins doesn't seem to care what .dds format quality you save it in- you could probably save a few megs by only having 2 bit alpha or so in your DDS's- I don't think Sins uses any more than that anyway. Also, regarding the .tga UI files, the stock sins (and your own) files are all saved as 32bit .t
Stress said the other day that he was just finalising the Federation off, half-sized ships, fixed hardpoints, added the Oberth as diplomacy vessel, and so on. So assuming that he's still got another 4 factions to go (though I don't know if the borg Cubes are getting half sized) I'd say there's several weeks at least to go- he's only one guy doing it on his own right now, while the rest of the team concentrate on the ne
Well the Borg are super-efficient, so just give them a much higher fleet cap than everyone else, or (even scarier), make their penalties for each fleet supply level less. You just can't nerf assimilation (apart from stopping it being able to target cloaked ships), that's what makes the Borg so freaking scary. If they're meant to be strong, let them be strong. I've also noticed the fleet cap being a problem for the Borg
QuickToDraw, somebody uploaded and linked to an older Full version of Fraps a few pages back. I've also got a Fraps installer that's somehow made it's way to me from god knows where too.
Scratch that- the game dumps when you try to build the Dominion Starbase. I'd suggest no Dominion AI's, and no building Starbases if you feel like playing Dominion, at least until the Mod Team has time to fix it.
Stress, I downloaded it last night, just extracted and got the pesky Whitewind error. It looks like pretty much the same problem we used to have with the Curry.dds file, it just fails the CRC and doesn't extract. Any errors Sins throws up is probably because the texture's simply missing.
Anthony, it'll be in your C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad\ etc folder.
Here's another "official(ish)" Rommie Starbase Design, doesn't look too bad really: http://i32.tinypic.com/facu10.jpg And also, I don't know what you have planned for the Federation Orbital Refinery, but I much prefer this one to the Armada one.
Stars do need a speed boost. If the defence is an issue, make it take twice as long to Jump out of a star well or something, but a speed boost in the Star well would really really help. Especially in multiplayer. Yes Cap Ships may be slightly Overpowered, but lets face it, Sins has always been about that; you could hold off a dozen light frigates easily without breaking a sweat. And it also fits well into the Star
The map's good (it's the one my videos are from), though the AI seems to have some problems with the pathfinding on it (but tbh that's the AI for you).
Well I'm afraid the Fraps file is simply far too large to upload, as it was it split my movie into two separate files, which I can't seem to get a program to work in merging, so here's my beauty videos for now- these truly show the power of both the Borg and the Klingons. Feel free to let me know what you think- I'd suggest watching them in order, as they really should just be one video. <a title="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50CwRsXP-Xs" href="h
Yeah, but only 600 though, and you lose a ship. I did find that the Akira has Tricobalt torpedoes, does 1250 damage at 15000, now with enough of those... you could put a very serious dent in anything.
Unfortunately you can't get enough Akiras to take out 200k of hull against a UniComplex, and the range doesn't make a difference if the Starbase outranges you- or if the Unicomplex takes
I have to agree with tesb. I hit a Unicomplex with practically the full fleet supply my empire could bring to bear (all supply researched), and did maybe 20k worth of Damage to Garry's unicomplex. While I firmly agree with the Borg being strong, I think every race should get a starbase disabling ability, as else the Unicomplexes are invulnerable within the game (unless you're a klink). Loving the cap ship assimilating ability, but is it supposed to work against C
The Sisko, that's been one of the plans for a very long time. Think Ship Of The Week ships. They've always said they're more concerned about finishing off the main races first though. ibbertson, you're going to need to be a bit more specific; what's the problem? <span style="color: #00ffff;"
Not sure about the scarab, but the one just to the right of the Cardie one is the Dominion's symbol. So obviously you can use either the Cardie or the Dominion one for the Dominion (or if you're really sad, you can do what I do and set one to each- aligning the race pics up with the flags, and then play against them as Feds, with a friend/AI as Klinks xD).
Tyrant, I'm guessing one of your Sins Texture config files is bust, and that everything suddenly seems to work in this mod because the mod's file is actually telling it what pictures to load. Unfortunately, without knowing which file of yours is dead, you'll probably have to completely remove and then reinstall sins. Or you can just play this mod forever... xD <
Guys, here are the "pipped" versions for the Fed/Dominion Fleet Supply Usage (got nothing for their cap ship upgrades I'm afraid, but at least the fed get pips for the supply usage.) http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=342cfbc177f7ebb47432d3c9683f450ac12b6dea9efa04b9e04f31aacf568dab Don't know if you guys will like/ want to use them, but if you do just put them into the Textu
Hey guys, how much of the research UI have you done? Because I'm tweaking the files right now to include Starfleet pips for the supply ranks, but was wondering if I'd tread on one of the mod team's toes if I got carried away? I'll obviously give you lot anything I do manage to get done, but the research lists look pretty generic to me right now.
Hey guys, since we (me and my friend) had invulnerable feds we changed the files to make them slightly more vulnerable for our own versions. As it stands here is the modified file, with this, level 3 or Quantum Harmonics + all shield research will only give up to 90% mitigation under any circumstances. Obviously the mod team will correct it themselves when they can, but this is a quick fix for now. Goes in the usual mod folder (ie): <span style="co
Mystic, haven't checked the Nova out against the sun since the hotfix, but as far as I recall it went back down to the model mesh, like what happens when you change graphics settings. It come back after a few seconds though, so maybe it was just my pc having a random issue addressing the texture in memory or something.
Darth, as far as I could see (I was playing multi), the Cleansing Brilliance does nothing damage wise, rather just disables the other ship, very similarly to what the ion bolt does. ice, I can confirm that there's something weird about the Nova texture, as it kind of fuzzes around the edges (but differently on two different machines)- and when set against a green star backdrop (and presumably the other ones) it almost completely loses its texture. I'll let you report it
I had enough antimatter to cast, maybe it was just a glitch though. Unfortunately I've wiped over the save file now :(.
Yeah okay shall start using the code site, but on clarification on the Defiant issue, it does that whether it's set to autocast or whetehr you manually cast it- either way it still just drops out of cloak instantly. Only seems to affect defiant though?
* Dominion starbase is called "Federation Starbase", using the fed mesh but stock Advent wireframe/textures. * Nova Class ships also use the Psi voices. * Dominion seem to get Venture class fighters? This may have something to do with the starbase mixup. * Dominion phaser turrets have stock damage value of 20, rendering them useless. * Defiant cloaking device fli
