I am also having this trouble. I bought a new copy from Target that was in the discount rack. I contacted the support e-mail and gave them my invalid cd key. I hope they provide me with one that will work. I need the latest update so it doesn't crash all the time on my Vista machine.
Ok, I found a link to download Smart Exception. I will try Galactic Civ 2 again and see what happens. Hopefully tomorrow I will have more info. I also made sure my drivers for the video and sound card are up to date. I also made sure I had 1.5 G of virtual memory.
I am having tremendous trouble with the copy of Galactic Civilizations 2 Dread Lords that I recently purchased. I can get it to run; however, it always crashes after up to an hour of play. I cannot find the debug.err file in my Galactic Civ 2 directory. I also can't find the Smart Exception free download on StarDock's website. How do I go about finding the free download or the bedug.err file? From what I have seen, the game is an excellent 4x strategy
