The Daily Mail and the Telegraph? What, was the National Enquirer was too busy with Lindsey Lohan to give this drivel coverage as well?
The daily mail may be a tabloid with a reputation for sensationalising stories (although if you read the article you'll note there doesn't appear to be any dispute or defence about the facts, the hospital in question appears to admit culpability) but the telegraph isn't and is seen as a much more reliable ne

Anyone here have experience of using a power tester for a computer? The power unit on my PC failed (fan failed+overheated the power) so I got a computer repairman to replace the power unit. The PC worked fine for about 3 hours before cutting out (although not because of overheating). I checked all cables/sockets were in place on it but it failed to start up again (the motherboard+graphics card fans would spin for about a second before stopping). Hoping that it was a problem with the p

Legalisation would cut crime(+free up police resources), increase health, reduce deaths, and raise money in taxes. Seems like a no brainer to me for anything between two consenting adults which doesn't harm others and which would pose no significant risks to the two people either. Instead I have to escape to a fantasy universe to see such common-sense policies enacted !

Oblivion without OBSE definitely limits you - you can still get alot of good mods, but there are other also very good ones you'll be missing out on. Unless stardock plan to update it so OBSE will work I'd have to recommend people get it from steam instead, which is fully compatible with OBSE+other mods (at least all the ones I've tried). I'd also say Oblivion is a game where you really need mods to get the most out of it (unlike other games, such as morrowind, where although there are lots of

Purchased defence grid during the steam sales, was a bargain. A great game, definitely would recommend it to anyone who's enjoyed a tower defence type game/strategy games generally.
Since everyone's kind of talking about Bioware, I've got a quick question about Dragon Age. Do you have to manage your party in combat or it like KotOR where it's kind of optional? I've shied away from it because I'm not so interested in dealing with a whole party.
It's optional. You'll want to do it (especially with the mages) to get the most out of your party/for the hardest battles, but the AI is much better+more customisable than BG2 so yo

It's not released yet. Wait a few hours and look it up in the steam store (if you're too early it'll tell you how long you've got to wait before it's released)

WoW is almost a sole exception in being able to successfully charge monthly fees. Given the massive volume of failed MMOs that have tried to emulate WoW's success I've little doubt that any publisher that tried bringing in subscription fees to play standard games online would suffer a huge drop in sales (unless the single player is exceptionally good, and given the trend in recent years to cut down on single player and let the multiplayer try and make up for it, I highly doubt that will happe
KotOR, DAO and ME have pretty much the same plotline. Not counting sequels, that's literally half their games with the same plotline, and those have been the latest released. You also ignored the fact I'm saying they started to suck post-KotOR. Probably because it's convenient for you.
No, it's not half their games. I've already been through 4 of their games which have different storylines, and the best you can still come up with is 3 and then say that 3 is half o

Good job on choosing the exceptions
They're hardly the exceptions when they're the majority of the games Bioware's released - from BG2 onwards their 'big release' games have been BG2, NWN, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect 2 (unless I've forgotten some other one as well). If they do make it human only I hope they have a 'specialism' or some other branch of customisation you can choose which has a similar effect as race to help differentiate characters. That said it can help with immersion - I really liked deus ex in part because the main character felt a lot more realistic due to being fully voiced. It's a shame that there won't be multiple origins as with DA1, but there's no reason why the decision should be allowed to limit ways of differentiating your chara

Debatable whether it is racist IMO. Yes it's not the most neutral choice of words, but I wouldn't say it's a good example of racist reporting. Maybe those words were chosen to try and liven up the sentence for example, rather than just removing them and keeping it very dry and factual.

Bioware have yet to let me down (apart from DRM, aand even there they've usually been able to persuade EA to pursue a slightly less draconian DRM system than would otherwise have been used). Every game of theirs that I've purchased has been brilliant and soaked up countless hours of my time. They're one of the few companies I could pre-order a game for and not be really worried whether it'd turn out to be a flop. BG2, NWN, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon age - all have been (IMO) at the 't

I find I'm at the point now where games thought to have poor graphics by todays standards look good to me - the difference is now between good graphics and amazing graphics, and so I'd much rather have good graphics with good gameplay than amazing graphics with average gameplay. Going back far enough though graphics reach the point where they start to look a bit awkward and detract somewhat from the game. Overall if a game has poor graphics (but good graphics) I probably would

IMO it's not hard to get a good computer capable of running the latest games (albiet not on the highest settings in every case) for a low price, without needing to build it yourself. I usually pick up a computer from ebay with a good processing speed and good RAM capacity (it doesn't have to actually have good RAM though since it's fairly cheap to get), where the motherboard+power will support a good graphics card. I then purchase the graphics card separately, and have a computer that's bette

Try evil genius. You can't pick up and drop your people anywhere, there are almost no rpg elements, it's just for the pc, if you play it right you can have almost no people attacking (while if you want to have lots of people attacking at once it's also fairly straightforward to do), it's in a 'dungeon keeping' genre (replace dungeon with evil lair), it's designed for single player (no multiplayer), the AI is decent (not great though), there's no DLC, and the nature of how you build your lair
