Do you have an issue with insurance companies being forced to provide coverage to people with pre-existing conditions if they get to choose what price it is at, or is it just if they are forced to provide coverage and have the price they charge capped (at an affordable level)?
I was sure it was "healcare SPENDING" ... in context, it WAS money spent on health care being a direct link to expectancy. And you are still cowardly avoiding an answer; you attack me because there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to counter my argument. "oh boohoo the evil man is mean and disrespectful of us" On the other hand, yes I off handedly insulted people who completely ignore facts to concoct their imaginary little world by calling them stupid. But I only do s
How about one of you intelligently respond to this instead of skirting the issue
Hard to have an intelligent conversation when you come out with stuff like this:
"Most people would consider healthcare linked to life expectancy" Then most people are idiots
If healthcare has no affect on life expectancy, what is the point of having any healthcare at all?
clearly flawed and insufficient evidence should just be accepted
Better insufficient evidence than no evidence at all
Wait, your contention is that because we spend more we should be the best?
Ceteris paribus it should be. Hence if it isn't that unless there are other factors that can be shown to explain away all of the difference, there is likely (more) inefficiency in how that money is used.
Uh, no - his op-ed article was against UHC

Its that reading comprehenson thng, When one is blind to facts everything they read goes their way if there is a hink that it might
It's funny enough when one person makes a complete fool of themself, but when two people do it independently, with neither of them realising, it's hilarious!
Which part of "the page will not load" do you not understand?
Precisely, you haven't seen it, and yet are commenting extensively on it. If the page doesn't load, then don't comment so much on it, especially with direct attacks on it's reliability when you don't even know what you're talking about because you haven't seen it by your own admission. It's like writing a critical review of a book or film based on it's title without having read/seen any of it. [quot
Which is part of what is making them go bankrupt... Are those countries shining beacons of what is right and how things are to be done, or are the also in dire straits? you can't have it both ways aeortar.
Exactly, and you seem to want it both ways - 'these countries are bankrupt because of healthcare, but the US isn't, it's only bankrupt because of bailouts' - even though those other countries also had bail-outs. Anyway if you want to argue that it's the heal
It is real basic, business makes a profit based on the consumers ability to pay. Price it too high and you don't make money. if a carwash cost a thousand dollars few people would pay for it and the carwash goes out of business
You just can't help continuing to make a fool of yourself, can you? Insurance does not work like car washes. Again, it's all about risk. By the way, here's someone else bashing the fat: http://www2.wholefoodsmarket
Disproportionate to whom?
Based on the graph linked, almost everyone (the US probably beats Malawi though), in terms of life expectancy relative to healthcare spending.
All those "first world countries" are going bankrupt with massive national debts, with their so called "free healthcare" being a major source of bankrupcy. "Also, I don't know if you've looked at the USA debt clock lately…" Which balooned
UHC will cost everyone roughly 40% to 60% of our income
Supported by the fact that other countries (with UHC)'s healthcare spending is far lower than the US's (per person)...
if people opt out of medical insurance the price has to come down...Your misguided belief in the need for insurance ensurs the cost stays high and will only go up
Well done for demonstrating your complete lack of understanding of how insurance works.
It is okay if we pay for him as I pointed out earlier but he should not have to pay for others
The problem with copying and pasting my arguments against you and trying to use them against me is that they don't apply. You are the one arguing that UHC is evil because it means you have to pay for others, yet argue in favour of non-fat people being forced to pay for fat people if they want insurance.
self insurance is the way to go but I doubt he ever thou
this one is a hater, does not understand the concept of insurance
Yes, you really are an idiot. Come back when you actually know what insurance is, and preferably also how it works, and maybe you might have a chance of understanding. Given the pitiful reasoning you've shown this far I doubt it though.
As long as there is no coercion involved and insurance companies are permitted to offer a wider range of options more closely tailored to your ne
the 'fat' wouldn't have any insurance at all if risk couldn't be spread
And where did you pull that statement from? All that would happen is the insurance would cost them more, not that it wouldn't exist at all. Perhaps you should read up on the basics of risk+reward - just because something becomes riskier, it doesn't mean you don't want it, it just means you require a greater reward.
You don't have to pay for anyone else if you decide, in your wisdom
I often wonder whats the prupose of giving members of our Gov't paychecks. It's not like they spend their own money anyways. I say as an employee they should just receive a place to live, a vehicle for transporation, funiture and a credit card for food (like the foodstamp cards) based on their level of position within the Gov't as a salary. In the long run it may be cheaper
Actually it'd work out much more expensive. Here's why: What would you rather, $100 to
I would very much like to see where you get your data on this.
On what, health risks associated with obesity? I've already given you a link to some data. If you're referring to the subsidisation effect, it's a result of simple economics/logic and there are numerous examples out there of such situations.
Fail. That only applies if you are forced to buy heal
You just assumed that fat people would want to pay more for being fat and call them a hypocrite if they don't want to pay more
Hold on, you're saying I'm assuming that they won't want to pay more, and I'm also assuming that they will want to pay more?! Make up your mind! Either way though I'm making no assumptions about fat people's preferences over being charged a fair amount. As for the hypocrisy, you appear to be using your selective memory again. Hypocrisy is typic
Your condescending shitpoint is based on a false assumption, aeortar - that if someone is fat, they want someone else to pay for their healthcare.
Your puerile statements demonstrate your inability to understand. There is no assumption that all fat people want others to pay for their healthcare, especially since I wouldn't have thought every fat person would be opposed to paying more due to being fat. Just as there is no assumption that fat people are poor. Th
I still do not understand how I am paying for fat people please explain? You assume that fat people are poor

everyone who has eaten food has died or will die at some time. Using your logic should we ban food?
What point is there in me trying to explain to you again? I mean even a 3 year-old would
I am confused, where is the hypocrisy?
Opposing a fat tax because you want other people to have to pay for you (if you're fat), while opposing universal health care because it means you have to pay for other people. Don't worry, I wouldn't expect you to understand it easily, if you have trouble understanding basics such as eating being linked to weight gain.
The singleplayer is not highly mentioned because it's average... not very weak
Good grief, you've written so much over a pointless semantics?! I'll summarise for you: P1: NWN: Strong multiplayer/mod creation, weak single-player P2: Good multiplayer/mod creation, average single-player You're effectively saying the same thing as Bingjack, so why are you so desperate to disagree? Anyway I'm just glad to hear they've announce
No one puts a gun to your head & forces you to buy insurance. You, on the other hand, would like a gun put to everyone else's head to force them to pay for your healthcare
Ah, so it's ok if you benefit, but not if someone else benefits? Classic hypocrisy.
Not only should what I eat be none of your business, paying for my health insurance shouldn't be either
It is my business if I have to pay for it.
who is asking us to pay for what other people do?
With insurance you pay for fatties with higher premiums. With publicly provided you pay for them with higher taxes. Either way, you end up paying.
Who are you to tell me what I should or should not eat?
Who ar
if we were talking about cattle, I'd have no problems with the notion. Humans with free will, on the other hand...
Humans with free will, hence they CHOOSE what they eat, and are directly responsible for whether they're fat or not. If people had no control over it, and were taxed/charged more, it could be argued to be unfair. Arguing that when people do have control makes no sense though. Again, if someone chooses to do something to their body, why should I be
Other than the statement you found somewhere do you have any facts to back this up? I have not experienced this to be true and I have a lot of fat friends
Ah yes, anecdotal evidence - always the most reliable! Anyway here's one study for your reference: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12151467 I'll summarise one of the results of it - if you're obese you're twice as likely to suffer from heart failure. It's also linked to numerous other heal
My biggest concern with this game is EA - given Bioware's track record I'm fairly confident the game itself will be good, and come with a nice editor. My concern relates to EA and drm restrictions, which will probably affect if I buy it. Disk check? fine. Online (1-off) activation? Fine. Frequent and/or constant online checks required to play single player? Not fine; Restrictions on the number of installations? Not fine. Basically if I can use it when+where I want, i'll be happy.
