I tried both LoL and HoN. They are both great games and both are free to try right now. These games are like an MMO, you have to invest alot of time in them because there are so many heroes/champions.

I think it'll be a bit slow for you and if you plan to play more than 3v3, forget it.
Demigod is on sale this week at local Target stores for $37.99. Sale ends Saturday May 16th. This is the cheapest I've seen it in the USA locally which doesn't include online prices.

This was in the beta as well so it is a bug. Now one thing is that if it's slaughter mode, there's no way to win because there's no one for you to kill. so you end up losing in a 2v0 game.

In the game options, set your sound settings to low. see if that'll help.

you'll get different fps on different maps. So on prison, the smallest fastest map, you might get 30fps. On Two brothers, the biggest map, you might only get 15fps.
Make sure both of you have the same latest patch.
