Hmm is Mobilization a M.U.L.E. style game ? Players would land on the planet Kcodrats instead Irata. (lets see if there is anyone here who figures out what I mean :D )
The Obliterator
In reality countries can get liberated, so why can't planets get liberated 2 ? (In Galciv) Cause the way how Galciv works is that troops are the same ppl as all the inhabitants. For examples, if Earth got 10B ppl and it gets attacked you see 10B people defend (not all will fight tho, since they are not soldiers all) When someone invades a planet it only changes race when all the enemy forces are gone(means everyone) Not that the idea of liberation is bad, but it's
About genocide, it doesn't always happen in real life, but in the game it is the only way to conquer the planet military. About ppl who would still remember the glory days, that can be true but if there are still those ppl I think that you as nation haven't lost yet. There might be some ppl left even after the Terrans who don't exist, those would be rebels or ppl silently living (probably away from the mass) I think that those ppl can regroup, but that you can just con
Artificial planet creation could get usefull for another thing then :)
Why I think resurrection is impossible in Galciv : If you suffer a cultural defeat people don't even know the habits and culture of what was Terran. So why would they get independent and form back as Terrans ? Even if some AI decides to destroy the SB's and colonies who have cultural influence, that would not change anything since there is no Terran influence to take it back, why ? Terrans don't exist anymore :) At military defeat all the terrans on the planet are
Hey Asmod, I played Galciv when it was early beta on a k6-2 405mhz too :) I was surprised it ran so good, offcourse it was because there was hardly any stuff implanted ;) About systems requirements, I made a post about it a while ago. The reply came with a list of systems requirements so the 600mhz etc is the official list. B4 that when Galciv was in an earlier form of development the system requirements may have been lower, probably explaining the difference betwe
I already said in the past when we had the discussion about MP/internet that hotseat would fit in perfectly. Who knows it might ever get implanted, if not I won't mind either.
p3 600 is the minimum for the gigantic galaxy I think, since it is better to have a bit higher system requirements on the box then have really low ones, which could give false hope that people with their P2-400 can play a gigantic galaxy with no problem. I think you should have no problem playing on most galaxy sizes. In the worst case, ship movements are not so smooth and the time between turns will take a bit more on a gigantic galaxy.
Have to add that AOW2 is a HOMM style game and not 4x (Players can move at the same time which makes it better in my opinion)
About your question why such a game as Galciv can be released without multiplayer is that it would have a weaker AI(which is very bad in these type of games) It is very hard to make either a good singleplayer and a good multiplayer. See it as a slider(with resources, money, time, programmers) which can be focussed to balanced,(no outstanding AI, no outstanding multiplayer), AI and features or a 4x type of game that is totally built for multiplay. Lovok, if you do not wish to pla
What if there was some sort of mothership(possibly launched when you lose your last planet), and if that doesn't conquer/colonize a planet after lets says, 10 turns you are dead. (and the AI cannot 'liberate' you then anymore) Just a thought...
In the past I have read some small articles about galciv and even a little interview, but then it went silent. I think most magazines will (p)review Galciv, the game deserves it.
I can't w8 for the final version, good that I got the beta, bad only that school takes so much time at the moment..
Rofl ! LOL
Will that be added too in the future (or is already added) Will sound fun if the yor actually said to liquify our species for their toast LOL
I am curious, would such a game be possible on OS/2 ? (the new galciv that is, with same gfx, ai, etc) OS/2 was the competitor of win95 and this new Galciv also runs under win95 I think.
Will the windowed version have a fixed size ? Bit curious about that.
I should use these 2, untill now I haven't used governors for any game yet (they should be really handy ;) )
I would also liek to congratulate you people :D Time for a little party ! :CONGRAT: Also I believe that this game will be a hit ;)
If the windows desktop is also 2 dark then it might be that your screens lighting is broken (they tend to get less brighter over time, no gamma correction will help you there)
Hehe, I built one, and like 1 houre l8er it arrived at the Arcean sector rofl (it was worth the w8 ;) ) Really funny, while the terrorstar was killing stars the Arceans tried to make peace and such hehe
Maybe you need a color calibrating tool ? (which have built in gamma correction usually)
Can you demand the same of the AI (perhaps nice if you have better or more diplomatic skill)
Well you could give techs and ships 2 the minor race you trade with. Minor races won't attack you fast, certainly not if they get 98% of their income from you :D
Hmm wouldn't ISO's help illegal copying ?
