We can also add that the AI will be( is) very good.
The Obliterator
Well the games you see these days won't be so forgiving, rts games run fine on a lower specced machine with low end gfx set but the worst thing that can happen is that the game slows down suddenly when you have a bit more units.(or the cpu) Also this applies even more too 3dgames. (there is the videcard the bottleneck sometimes in combo with the cpu) With system requirements just meet you can play these games on the ugliest setting (even quake3 would look better and run better, that
Or you see a minor race with a nice high class planet close to your world Muwhaha !! :d
Can you name a few games ? :)
Ah great news :) Gonna download it tomorrow, since I have no time to do it now :( (or play)
Ah ok, they seem in line with what the game needs to run good :D There are alot games which have rediculously low requirements that are not realistic at all :) (which alot people get frustrated about ;p )
It is a bit outdated tho :D
This newslink (on the main galciv page)tells us what we can expect more : http://www.galciv.com/index.asp?action=full&NewsID=133
I think that he ments bugs.
Hmm I have read trough some more posts and I noticed that this bug was already known :) Except that this happened with warparty
Well I play in gigantic without any problems. Only movements go not so smooth when I made a fleet of ships. See my other post for my rig. I think that way Stardock gains respect by people who want to buy a game and see that a particulair system (pentium 3 500 cannot run a gigantic system) unlike having them to find out while trying to run the system.
Here is the debug file : http://members1.chello.nl/~j.veldhuis/Galciv/debug.err And this is my rig : processor : Athlon XP1800+ mainboard : Ecs k7s5a rev3.1 memory : 256 megs Samsung (1024 virtual) vidcard : GF2mx 400 @240/240 Monitor : As6s @ 1152x864 in 32bit color Harddisk : WD800jb 80GB 8MB cache OS : Windows XP proffesional
I think that when Galciv goes gold that it would be good to have realistic system requirements on the back of the box which clearly indicates what type of system could do what or so :D
I hope they put it in a dvd case :)
After playing on the gigantic map for a while when I was struggling to keep the Yor from outshining my culture, I noticed a bug. Not sure if this was submitted already : If you pay tribute for a certain amount fo months you will see your income increase with what you pay as tribute for the months you selected. While this was happening I could speed up my production (building constructors like mad) After I upgraded 1 of my starbases with a waterpark my influen
Well if the AI is perfected, multiplayer wouldn't be so necessary. The Metaverse is a good addition which makes the game a bit multiplayer anyway :) I heard that AI programming is very hard, maybe I will encounter that challenge 2 when I am learning how to program at school.
The devs don't have the time to develop both at the moment I think. So you have to choose. When they perfected the AI (or mulitplayer) they could start working on the other thing. Alot games got lousy AI and an average multiplayer. This game would be excellent for hotseat multiplayer or internet tho. But if they start working on that 2 the AI might not be as good.
Wouldn't it be better that we don't know where all the planets are after some radius of some lightyears ? Now I can see that there is a planet on the other side of the galaxy, the AI's see that 2. This radius circle could get bigger over time when new tech has been developed so we can see further. Unless you scout with a ship then you will see planets nonetheless. This way Alien contact can be delayed and you can research a nice tech. Also when you are new to s
oops, I should have read the earlier posts. tnx for the reply.

This is what I did : 1st I selected technologists, gigantic galaxy size and then uncommon for habitable planets. I also selected 4 defense ,1 population and 4 research levels (not totally sure) After that I deselected the Drengin and the Altarian race. Then I got kicked back to windows, now that shouldn't be so bad, but this happened like 3 times now (only hwne deselecting races) I don't know if this doesn't happen when I select other civ specs. Problem is
