Do you remember when we would get a mega event or a Galactic event and it said, something like " The Planet Wardell IV has reactivated a precursor device, this planet has had its class increased by 10...... I always wanted a way to search for that planet. We could alphabetize our planet list and that did help sometimes. In about half the times the planet itself was one we had not discovered yet and thus had no way of searching for it..... </

Thanks for the reply Mormegil! I know in GC II if I had (10) defense and I was facing a (5) dmg weapon of same type {using generic here} I would not take damage or rarely did. Here at GC III it seems that the defenses do not work that way at all. Now it (feels) like I need 3 defense points to nullify 1 attack point. This really feels wrong and goes against years of play from GC II but may be what your folks vision is. I will wait till the co
Doesnt the Stimulus project show up on the right hand side 'build' panel?
Number 7 is a big deal and should be made more clear. Thanks Rhonin.
I cant find the post but another member researched and said that defenses are currently NOT working. I just want to verify if this is 'working' as intended or the devs intend to hook up defenses with the combat update.
I read in a previous post that it is pointless to research Starship defenses as they are currently not working at all. In that thread there was talk about simply using very small or tiny ships with the best weapon and having fleets of them. This would actualy be better than 2 or 3 HUGE ships vrs 8 tiny, The 3 can only kill, 3 ships while all the smaller ships get to fire (at least once) on the first round. With defenses NOT working, fleets of smaller ships i
Sweet, Thank you and keep up the GREAT work!
Welcome to Beta Matopicus!
So I saw a related thread on Steam and it reminded me to post a similar thread here. What is the difference between the two? (Guard vrs Sentry) Perhaps in a future expansion can we get 'Stance' Settings for our fleets? I have been playing Distant Worlds Universe lately and while the game is pause-able real time it does have some features which are pretty darn handy (like fleet attk/defense stances).
Na, I was thinking about the main viewer like you show on your pic. I can see the usefulness of having that info in right hand side viewer though.
That's odd because on my starbases that I dock for defense show a shield icon as well as shipyards. In fact this morning I plopped down a military starbase a bit into the territory of the corrupt Terran empire and then quickly piled up some snipers in it. This gave me the 'shield' icon and from there I stage invasions.
If anything the rate of tech progression feels TOO FAST Post age of expansion. Once I get to AGE of WAR things seem to research MUCH faster. It would feel better if we unlocked expansion techs (slightly) faster and when Age of War is unlocked you to a Movie/something to say GRATS you are now ready to crush your enemies. Then the progression lengthens out a bit more and finally the last age should also take longer than the previous first two. Just my 2 bits.&
Does this mean Ship Defenses now work?
I am still playing my 2nd Beta game. I am 400+ turns and slogging it out with Godlike Terrans on one side and Drengin on another. Yes the game is resembling 'fun'.
Almost every point you bring up has been discussed in the streams. Nearly 2/3rds of your post has been beat to death either here or on the Steam forums, notably the idiocy of Tactical Combat, The Zig Zag issue, the Static Solar systems (three streams talked about this issue and why we cannot have 'moving systems'), Terra forming which is broken into techs by specific races. Any of course your dislike of the Tech Ages, which of course are just another way to gate you from bee lining sp
So this cannon fires acid into orbit? How about hypersonic hamster guns instead..."go for the eyes boo, the eyes!" [e digicons][/e]
Ahem.....'Go for the eyes Boo!"
It is my all time favorite as well. Kudos....
So I have built my own computers since 99'. I currently use an I5 3570K over clocked a bit. I am now looking at the new i7's for my next build (next year). Ahem,.. 8 core processors, Lots of ram (32?) and a 500 gig SSD to play on. Oh and I guess two Nvidia 780 gtx in SLI but ill see what the market has then. Will Gal Civ III make use of all those idling extra cores or threads? I really want the game to make use of all the resou
Hurry and post the UTUBE. I did not get a chance to see and i want to hear what you all talked about while pretending to actually work in my office.
Now that is appropriate. NEWS FLASH....... Snathi seen devouring the Dreingin/Thalan/Human Peace delegation on Pi Omicron IV. Drengin accuse Altarians of using Snathi Shock Troopers to prevent peace in region and foster more bloodshed.... Drengin Death Commandos seen running in terror from 'Cute little Squirrels'.....
........."Large Rodent-like aliens were seen in the Ceti Alpha 6 system" ........News of the new race who call themselves 'Snathi' is spreading across the Usenet! Be warned This species is extremely violent, making the former Korrath look down right huggable in comparison. Be advised that contact is not recommended.
The default load out for the Paladin is great but there are times when I want to tell the engineers HEY we NEED MOAR PEW PEW and less ZING ZING, PUT ON MOAR PEW PEW! Really if we could just tweak the defaults would be nice. I suspect the designers want you to Mix up your fleet compliment of different ships rather than have one that is the show stopper, jack of all trades. So what do you compose your fleets with?
Awesome! Ill have to watch this later tonight as Ill be on the road. Perhaps Ill 'listen in'..
I brought this up before and never really got a yay or nay. In old Gal civ II we had 'focus' sliders on what percentage of each of the weapons/defense types we wanted the AI ship builder to focus on. I actually liked it as I could let the designer put 40% into Beams and 60% into guns and walk away while my engineers redesigned what I wanted. Is that type of feature possibly going to make a return? I
The answer in a nutshell is absolutely YES it will be in game. I am pretty sure it will be in an expansion following release of the regular full game. I am assuming and may be wrong but the features you loved in the expacs from Gal Civ II WILL be coming in later expansions after the game releases, Spies, new techs and extra diplomacy trade features. The want to get the base game fully polished and ready to go with the AI. After that th
