This is correct Jbbrower. At launch there 'seems' to be zero reason (other than trade) to go out and secure the tac resources. Even then the investment in time and production to get them means the trade value should be good. If not I would not bother. As it is even late game Jbb, there really is no value to even research augments. I predict unless the effectiveness increases dramatically these entire arms of the tech tree will be dead until there is

We will not have direct control on the ships for combat. However we 'may' be able to issue orders to ships or at the minimum I would imagine select a stance or attack/defense postures for some ships in a fleet. All that information is currently in Brad's head and only he knows how he wants it to play out. In previous incarnations of Gal Civ we had zero control and simply viewed the battles via a nice combat viewer much like Endless space. That got old

Jbbrower, if you set up a mine an start mining you will get ONE of that resource from that point on. No more, no less. Furthermore should you build a single ship with the one resource augment, you will now have ZERO of that resource until that ship is either destroyed or upgraded to another design without that resource. So you spent TWO constructors to acquire ONE resource for the ENTIRE GAME only to use it one ONE SHIP after you build the ONE SHIP. Should you res

Blue oyster the only issue is that you would need to change the upper tier mining techs. So if you have say 1 elerium, and you can build only 5 ships with it before it runs out, then mining techs that increase the amount you get only allow you to run out faster. The way it is now, I would totally wait till mid to late game to even bother building a mining base an then only if the augment effect outweighed the investment. I mean I can have a ship with 'slightly

I agree on this. This is another issue along with combat notifications that will be addressed. I am going to pop in with a question tomorrow on this very issue and see if they answer it. I would like the notification to take me to the shipyard and not (in) it. The Same with the Combat notifications and have them resolved in linear fashion, one after another so I can get a feel on where combat is happening.

On large or larger maps and mid to late game this is a big problem. I know it was irritating Paul as well, (since he LOST EARTH!!) and will be fixed either NOW or with the Diplomacy update. I have had 3 battles occur an had to go back and look at every inch of the map to figure out what was attacked and where.

GC II let you start a game and then take your 'points' and assign them to various skills or abilities. This gave much needed flavor to any base temp let race such as Terrans. As an example you could take the Government perk that gave you +20% to economy and also get more points for another 25%. I would often take this because at early-mid game I would be BROKE to the point I could not build any ships or any buildings. This often caused me to slide all research and production to ZERO a

Now I have to pull out GC II and see if borders are actually in game. I do not remember but I thought you could move freely through any races space armed or not. There are no 'closed borders' in GC III (as far as I can find) so in the scenario above your entire owned space could in theory be a battleground without any of your ships or stations ever being involved. Remember, space is mindbogglingly BIG!

Yes, Espionage is not going to be in the base game. There was talk about making making MUCH better than the simple placement of an agent in GC II. With that said I know Paul wanted it to be deeper and more complex. So yes its slated for entry after the game launches. It is likely it will be part of the first expansion as that was also a major feature of one of the GC II expansions.
