Play the game...Ok Ill start some suggestions and others who are better can add... Take your first colony ship and DO NOT settle your small world near your home planet, instead set it off on one path and see if you can find another planet to colonize that is larger and farther away (thus extending where you can search/look and colonize!) Take your scout and go 90 degrees from where our colony ship is going in that direction if stars are present th

This would be a 'limiting' feature. Players do not like to be limited. I see the 'flavor' of having it but when you are managing 12+ fleets or more in a gigantic galaxy...trying to get those ships to a star base AND back can make full tedium. Damaged ships will have to 'go on' and keep fighting. I would rather have a tech you research that expedites in the field repairs that you can put on a support ship.

Again this is a placeholder AI. I know that this time around we have been asking for more/better AI that does not need bonuses to compensate for its lack of creativity in tile placement or planet specialization. I suspect that Brad will likely do a good job but Modders like MarivinKosh and others will greatly improve it. Of course all this hope is laid AFTER we go gold next year....

Well for one this game is not finished, however this is a detail oriented game. Personally I enjoy it a bit too much. It is more of everything that GC II was. HUGE maps are a hoot as will be the far larger maps. All of these features have been asked for, for (years) on the GC II forums. Better AI, LARGER maps, more more more.. Its good to have different opinions about what you like or dislike. I can respect that. If you do not like the game now, you definite

Ok, Thanks for the information. So they will always pull ahead early game, its completely possible to crush them but they will be ahead of you. Knowing this I may restart a game and disable research victory.

I know we have a 'placeholder' AI. Does the current AI get 'bonuses' to Research/production/pop growth when set at higher levels? Assuming all things equal, I find it very hard to believe that the AI is capable of getting 12 techs ahead of me without research or production bonuses.

Well for starters, don't worry about being out pace by the AI, I am playing with GENIUS lvl and they always have 10-12 tech and I got 4. No worries you catch up fast. They will spend or approval themselves into the toilette eventually. Also get trade asap and send some freighters to their planets. They will love you and that will help you make tech trading a bit easier.

Will we be getting more interactive pop ups or responses from AI players? For example, I want the AI to pop up and ask me for just about anything. I want him to pop and say, "Give me Earth or we will destroy starbase X357 near our border" The Drengin had similar threats and I LOVED THEM...please put them in!

Brad will be writing the 'Ai Code' and with that he has previously done a very good job with flavoring the personality of each AI. Today we have diplomacy which has issues BUT is being addressed every day. I knew dipomo would be a turning event in the games development and I was right. More people are posting with bugs and complaints more than we had prior to Beta 2 and truthfully this is a great thing. The game currently is fun (for me) and I am resisting investing a lo

[quote who="econundrum1" reply="7" id="3502611"] Colony management, while I like the bonus tile/adjacency system in theory it doesn't really work well in practice. I tend to build the same things on every planet and most of the specialty buildings fall by the wayside with few exceptions that I build on large worlds. Why even bother with colony management beyond using the production wheel for optimization. The placement of tiles on most wor

Yea, I am getting to like 'uncommon habitable and tight clusters' WAY more than even spread of stars and lots of habitable ones. Its just my personal preference. I really like an 'island Empire' with med to large voids between the next island of stars. This allows me (and the AI) to build infrastructure inside the Empire up before going out and conqueroring/Culturizing the next area. Has anyone used Culture Star Bases y

I am several hundred turns into a HUGE map game and only met Iridum, Drengin and Altarians.... I am nearly done with Age of War. I feel we are either moving too fast through the tech tree on larger sized maps or we need a better pacing in Age of War. I like feeling i have milestones of achievements in getting techs in this age. Its so so. Also at this point I only have at most HALF of the map opened up and I have Hyper warp! Hats of to making BIG maps..I love it.

On the fence, well the game is not a remake of GC II. Lets clarify this up front. From the beginning the game is going to be GC II with more of everything and better. It will still be the same gameplay and still have the same players...but. Better. Hexes instead of squares. 64 bit for maps that are mindbogglingly big! Multiplayer enabled (something never before in GC I or II.) Dx 11 (beautiful awesome visuals) A

Willy, in the UP you can put up a resolution to stop tech trading and one to stop tech brokering. Both will likely NOT pass but its an attempt. I do know for a fact that the option to disable tech trading/brokering will be in game in the options area.

Well they changed the tree for Terrans. I always research farms first off to get that tech which you do not have at start. Early on I made a templet of both Colony and Constructors and built only a shell with no life support and no engines and just the constructor or colony module. I called it 'cheap constructor/colony. This thing is short ranged and not very fast but can be cranked out fairly fast. Because its a templet it has been saved over to all my games as Terran and I

I have tended to always get the Benevolent tree. Its just too damn good to not grab. I tried playing Pragmatic but some of the 3rd tier choices are not worth the investment of point vrs what they give. Malevolent, now I can see this really helping a warmonger...but..you would be crushed by benevolent fleets as they have the higher production against your stronger ships. Some of the Malevolent ideologies should be reworked to change how unhappiness affects the loss

Still I do think the Drengin need a slight motivational buff. I would LOVE for them to come onto the scene and say, Hey, "Give me your lunch money or we are going to send a fleet and destroy your starports" and I would love even more a snappy reply like ' I'd like to see you try' with the end result ONLY being a decrease in how they like me with war not likely unless we are already hated and/or weaker in terms of military.
