I have Far Cry 3 and I mus say it is one of the best First Person Shooters i have had since Half Life. The Blood Dragon DLC is just awesome as well.

Nooo I NEEED your streams to keep me happy! Ok have a Terrific Thanksgiving Dev Team. Personally I am going to Brine and Roast a 22lb turkey and its just me and my Girlfriend this year. Well I'll have lots of sammiches for the weekend!
I just realized and asked this today for the stream. It is possible the Secondary factors are at work...That is Range, Accuracy and Rate of Fire... all of which will cripple the standard Attack/Defense formula. I would like to know where or when we can find base stats on each weapon. Which weapon has the longest range? Which weapon has the hardest punch? (Missiles) Which weapon has the best
Can we see the combat Viewer? Can Paul verify that defenses are working? It seems the values are not really working well. Are there other factors other than Attack vrs Defense that goes into combat, stuff we are not seeing? Are Range, Rate of Fire, and Accuracy currently in game and in play at this time? If so can we get the values for these (Secondary stats) for the weapons/defenses?
Edlander, what I need to know is if defenses are actively working. Do we have straight defense against straight offense or are there other factors in play. Medium ship with 2 beam attack and 30 missile defense against a medium ship with 25 missile attack and 30 missile defense. On paper the beam weapon ship should ALWAYS prevail. This was how it worked in GC II. Does anyone have any data on defenses for Beta II at this point?&nbs
What is the keyboard command to take a screenshot? I cant seem to find it anywhere but I know its not prnscrn..
Just as an FYI, I posted this over on the Star Wars forums and found my answer. It was C.J. Cherryh's Morgaine series from the 70's. I was going to pick this series up at the library....
[quote who="tid242" reply="14" id="3507282"] This was from the old GC2 manual. There was a better breakdown from Brad a looong while back somewhere IIRC, but I'm having trouble finding it... In short the AI performs more complicated tasks at higher difficulty settings. Also, worth of note: it does not cheat, (apart from economic bonuses?), it has to scout blindly for planets/resources, has to scout other AI and the human player's assets, etc. It does not "
Lots of good information here. Personally I feel we should not tamper with hard coding such gates or restrictions into the game. Leave sliders or such in game and let each player, play how they like. Some like the expansion some don't. Let each have his choices and enjoy their game.
I cant remember for the life of me but I am looking for a Fantasy story and the main character was a woman and she wielded a sword. At the end of the sword was a 'void'. I cant remember who the female author was, but the novel(s) were in the 70's and 80's. Again it was fantasy and the main character I think was female and she wielded a sword that had a void/ or singularity on the end of it. I figured ou
Lol went to diplomacy screen just now and went to treaties..as happened before..hard crash...
I am currently on turn 269. I had just finished a war with the Drengin. I am happy to upload information or screenshots. By the way what is the command to do a screenshot in game? I cant find it anywhere in the options? I can upload a save game if needed or use that support tool if a Dev will link it for me. Currently stuck on 'wait' and game will not progress. I reloaded several times and even went back to previous
I am currently in a game that I have had several major battles with the Drengin. One of his fleets had 65 Missile attack and only 50 Missile defense. That was it on that fleet. I attacked with another fleet that had 105 Missile defense and 88 beam attack. Actually those 4 ships had 32 beams, and 12-36-14 for defense. They were medium with 50hps each. His ships were smaller and he had I think 5 or 6 of them but their only values were +missile and + missile defense.
[quote who="kestlstw" reply="10" id="3506998"] Paul has talked about how IA races will be controlled by attributes, one of them being how aggressively expansionist they are. Thus GC2 minors are not at all expansionist, GC1 minors were just as aggressively expansionist as majors. What everyone is arguing for here is the ability to set the level of expansionism for minors. I would love that option. Having the option to have minors not expand i
We are not getting 100+ majors. We can create races of our own and have lots of them in game (100+?). They aready said that minors will be moddable and do everything that Majors do. If fact they will be a major part of the UP but I may be remembering wrong...
Thanks (IslandDog) for directly answering me on this question. My fear is the genius that Brad imparts would be lost if he did not do it himself. The answer that was given in today's steam once again put my fears to rest!
Thanks Eviator. Way back when Alpha started it was stated 'somewhere' that Brad was going to do the AI but would be working on it during the path to the Combat Viewer. I just want to know if he delegated this task or was going to handle it personally. The Ai for GC II while flawed is still considered very good for the time it was released and along the way Brad and others commented about doing things differently so it can be mo
now that is pretty darn funny.... Attack....wait...what??? OMG>>>. retreat!!!
This is similiar to what is found in Distant Worlds. Its an ok idea but Norseman is correct on limiting how the AI would seek planets. If there was a flavor of one planet over the other of two that are available ok, but only if the AI does not gimp itself.... choosing a Jungle class 5 over a continental Class 15 is silly....
[quote who="eviator" reply="5" id="3506110"] I disagree, though not vehemently. Before I go into that, it is worth noting that any starbase inside another's ZOC does negatively impact relations with that civ, unless you have an Open Borders treaty. Now to my disagreement. Opening a McDonald's franchise in Japan is not meant to incite Japanese anger. I would do it to make money, and perhaps add a little western culture. Perhaps my ultimate goal is to take over Japan one
I asked earlier but will officially ask, When will we get Brad full time for our AI (coding and writing) and stop work on that other less important game 'Sorcerer King'? Can we get an 'Auto Attack' command just like we have in Gal Civ II which commands ships to attack all 'enemies in sensor range?
This will be in about Beta 4. The Devs addressed it a while ago. We will have mouse scrolling but its a polish fix.
Marvin, this is a terrific idea. However what would be needed is if it was a separate AI that grew. What i mean is its 'outside' the personalities of the current Factions we play against. Instead its considered an AI NPC. You can turn him on and he will either be player assigned or randomly assigned one of the other ai factions yoiu play against. If he pulls Altarian our 'better-than-average' AI will use the Altarian flavors as guidelines to
I believe it is currently broken. I do not build any of the Galactic research wonders as I am pretty certain that they are not working or not working correctly.
[quote who="androshalforc" reply="1" id="3506065"] I agree a couple of points id like to weigh in on 1) the reset after dismantalling a starbase should not be instantanous it should be a slow increase over 50-100 turns 2) there should be some way of defining original ownership i believe in gc 2 the ai assumed everything was your fault Ai; hey you just built a culture base near our colony we dont like that. Me; no i built that culture base 50 t
