I'm sitting here contemplating the purchase of a Radeon 4850, but one very big concern is looming before me: my mobo only has the 1.x standard of PCI-Express x16, not the 2.0 that modern cards use. I know that the 4850 will run on my old slot, but it will be doing so with only half the bandwidth. This begs the question: how much of the card's performance do I lose in that equation? Will I get half the fps I would with a new mobo? Will it be a 1/3 drop? Perhaps 1/4? What?
