Yes sound drivers can be an issue with onboard sound. I had 30% cpu power in usage in Vista just playing Winamp. It didn't show in the taskmanager but an advanced tool told me it was the Windows sound driver using that much cpu. I googled it and it said to remove my driver and let Windows install one for me. That resolved the issue and the sound driver of windows now only uses 1-2%.

Hmm well framing properly is the job of the forum devvers. IMO it could be better on this forum. The lines seperating the post are pretty much the least noticable thing on this page and the time stamp has the same font ans dize as the post so there's no clear way to instantly see where I should start reading (which is: the first word of the post the member actually writes. In my case it is the word "Hmm").

But that means the game could work in multiplayer with /nosound right? Could be a decent workaround for now, though I think GPG needs to take a look at this asap, no sound engine should grind the system to a halt, especially not this game where sounds isn't all that prominent, other than some music and announcements.
