I could at least reduce the spike hight with deactivating traffic shaping in my router config. However, I don't know if this option is common to a wide range of routers or if this interferes in any way with e.g. ISP traffic shaping (Glasnost was negative for my ISP though). I couldn't prevent spiking with this - it's as common as it was before - but could reduce the hight from 1500er to 300er pings in 3vs3 games (2Mbit ADSL). However, the game stutters when I peak, as it did before -
