A few more beginner questions in War of Magic Elemental Forums

Just playing the solo campaign so far to learn the ins and outs but have a few questions. 1) when you que up a spell to learn is there a way to tell how many turns it will take? Qued up a spell to learn and it took a long time, at one point i wasn't even sure it was working but then a few turns later it showed up as learned. Apparently working but can't tell the progress. 2) havent been able to research anything. It says i have no scholers researching. Is this just because the

Dumbest newb question ever in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

Just picked-up the game and am playing through the tutorials. I have been a big fan of strategy games for a long time and so far I am VERY impressed with this game and plan on spending way more time than I should playing it. And now my stupid question...How do you win??? I looked all over in the manual and online but I don;t see any victory conditions. Are there multiple ways to win (such as in the CIV games) or do you just need to totally eliminate all opponents forces in the galaxy? I know
