Virtually all Porn sites are "subscription" sites. Personally, I will only subscribe to a site that gives me something specific, that I cannot get some where else, freely, or something whose quality exceeds that available elsewhere. Should Wincustomize start requiring subscription fees, I would have to go elsewhere. I was in the group that thought it was in "Decline". Just an opinion based on the slowdown in new skins showing up here. Beside that fact that there are fewer skins, there is no standard of quality required to get a skin posted. A skin may look great on the designers machine at 800X600 16bit color, and look like hell at 1260X1024 at 32bit color on someone elses machine. I can't count the number of skins I've loaded up, just to immediately discard them as unfunctional. And this is just those

Skinning, at least for XP, probably won't become really wide spread until after the requirement for 3rd party software is eliminated. Right now, I have to use 3 different programs to change skin, cursors and icons, where a simple desktop theme used to do that natively. Why isn't anyone making "themes" for WinXP?

Prior to being able to download, I was asked to provide my name and e-mail information used to purxhase Stardock products. I supplied it, but the e-mail address is no longer valid and I cannot complete the process. It is unfortunate that so many sites place such emphasis on e-mail addresses, when it is subject to change at any time. The only information, used at Stardock, that hasn't changed is my name and phone number.

I am a Stardock customer and a WC account holder. I don't know how much I've D/L'd from WC, but I do know that I've deleted, from my harddrive, almost as as much as I've downloaded. There seems to be no quality control on what gets uploaded, no standards that must be met before it can be listed. If you want to be the best source for skins on the internet, then offer only the best skins. If you just want to be the biggest source, well.........

The over-use of any web design tool whether it's Flash, Swish, or Java makes for a poorly designed web site. A good site loads quickly, is easily navigated and makes the user want to come back. One tool I almost always use, which seems to have almost disappeared from the internet, is "frames". I read an article in a newspaper, years ago, about McDonalds enforcing it's trademark rights. They were sueing a hamburger joint in Israel over the name of one of their burgers, the McDavid. McDonalds won. They must have had a very good burger.

If a subscription was required for entry, then I would have to require that all skins available should be of the absolute highest quality. All skins would have to be continuously updated to support current versions of the programs for which they were designed. I believe that all skins listed should support all applications listed, suites. Spaceballs was a lame spoof of Star Wars. Pigs in Space and Galaxy Quest were, IMHO, excellent spoofs of Star Trek. My favorite Sci-Fi movies: Forbidden Planet The Time Machine-1962 I have both on Laserdisks as well as the entire Star Trek original series.

Lawyers, accountants, priests and politicians, the world would be a better place but for them. When the corporate computer manufacturers go back to supplying full, registered versions of all installed software on a removable media, then I'll start worrying about transferring it when I sell or donate any equipment.

I don't doubt the statistics. I have used, any will continue to use, shareware past it's expiration date. I have paid, and will continue to pay, for those programs that I find exceptional in use and value. I found one line in the article that brings a question to mind. it is: "Finally, shareware fees go almost directly to the developer." I wonder what the statistics show about reported income from the sale of shareware?

Are there any instructions for using the XP-WB skins with XP? I just upgraded to XP and had WB3 installed already. I haven't figured out how to use the skins. The SWkins tab in the Display Properties doesn't seem to change anything.

I received the same e-mail on 7/18/01. Norton Antivirus didn't flag it coming through my email program. I just deleted it, like any unsolicited attachments.
