I think I can safely say that we want Civilization V to succeed and Firaxis wants Elemental to succeed. What neither of us want is for everyone to just throw their hands up and decide that Elemental II/Civilization VI should be a first person action game.
Yes. Thank you. Look what they did to X-COM and Fallout. The new systems work alright, but they are not the same game. <

Really, this is why I bought Elemental. Stardock has a dedication to seeing their games come through right, and I am glad that the games are not the sole source of revenue. We see companies diversify to increase the markets they are in for profit--have you looked at just how many different Oreo products there are out there right now? Stardock's games, on the other hand, truly seem to be works of craftsmanship and pride. I bought Alpha Protocol for the XBox 360 earlie

Frogboy, it seems like you're not in it for the big bucks, but you're in it to make good games. As long as you hold that philosophy and are dedicated, I am sure your efforts will keep many loyal customers. Cheers for all the countless hours I've put in your games. Please keep them coming.

The street date was what we all signed up for when we ordered it, and compared to that we still did get it early. In the future, Stardock will probably be a little more cautious when announcing an early release. I don't think I'm alone in checking Impulse with (almost?) OCD frequency throughout the day. People will get irked. Should they get really upset about that? Probably not, but they will nonetheless, and this is not something Stardock wants a rep for.

Glad it's up. Can't wait to play. I was curious if people would share the info that it's up, or keep it a secret to help speed up their own downloads. I am glad to see that, for today at least, Locke prevailed over Hobbes. Have fun!

Silent Storm did not do that much for me. I suppose it's because I want the strategy as well as the tactical aspects, and the story was absolutely brilliant. I suppose a randomly generated, or at least varied enemy would add to replayability, but I fought the mutons and chrysallids again and again and again... Xenonauts looks interesting, but there have been a lot of tries to nail X-COM. UFO Aftershock and its successors were alright, but almost too RPG-y, IMHO.&nbsp

GalCiv 2 was clearly heir to the Master of Orion series. I am filled with hope that EWoM can be the successor to Master of Magic. I was reading through Wikipedia (that fountain of always 100% accurate information), and noted that EWoM is part MoM, part Populus, and part X-COM. I can see where that is coming from, by in my mind it still echoes strongly MoM. But the quote got me thinking. I think Stardock really shines when bringing those blasts from the past
Quoting fatindian, reply 47 I still have a point. Brad saying preorders and beta testers getting it early is the "privilege" part. Release date is 24th, that hasn't changed. Just because you call it privilege does not make it any different. People have pre-ordered to get this privilege, thus it is their privilege and they are understandably upset when the promise was not fulfilled. (though it is time only for beta

It's out when it's out. It looks like we're getting it a bit early, so that's great. Getting stressed out because it's running a bit late or because retailers broke the street date isn't worth the wasted energy. Take a moment to browse through your past Impulse purchases. Play a good one of those for a while. I've put in a great amount of Hearts of Iron 3 this weekend to keep me tided over. I would highly recommend it. <
Apropos of nothing, here's a quote that keeps popping into my head as I wait: I feel like I could... like I could ... take on the world!
Ah, Day of the Tentacle. You are not alone. For some reason, that dwells in my mind as well.

Hey, let's just appreciate that 1.1 and other game improvements (not just bug fixes, mind you) are on their way, and we're getting 'em for free . Stardock isn't like certain other developers who are charging you for puny little downloads that add little significant change to a massive single player RPG. I'd say we're getting our money's worth here! While we wait, we can just enjoy some of the other features of GC2 that I'm sure most of

Yeah, you get the info somewhat reliably after you blunk in lots of change to the ol' espionage box, but I'd LOVE to see some info in "news story" form, but I can understand how that would be a pain to put that in. But you gotta figure, if the UP meetings occur reliably, wars should be pretty common knowledge. Who declares what on who should be clear, but who is pulling the strings... Well, you can figure that out yourself. <img src="http://images

I love GalCiv2. It's taken me away from many things I should be working on, but it's so... good... Anyway, the two big things I would like to see in the near future are as follows... 1. Fleet attacks seem a little strange at times. The game functions well, but when I find a good ol' Lucky Ranger the system seems a little odd. Enemy fleets always throw themselves at that Ranger, which, in the early-to-mid-game, are WAY powerful.

I can vouch for #11. I just finished playing my first Yor game and I fiddled with one of the medium hulls several times and the stuff kept getting placed back. In the front "wings" of one of the Yor ships is where it happened to me. I finally gave up and just modified some of the other hulls to make more unique ships but it was annoying, a wee bit.

Thanks for the info! After reading a few other posts, it appears I might be missing out on a few of the graphical bonuses for my ship components 'cause I got it from the store instead of direct, eh? Any chance of these being put into an expansion pack or such down the line? Or sold separately? I like all the bells and whistles! I pre-ordered from EB at a local store and if I had known I could get a CD copy from Stardock when I ordered the game, I would've done that, but it was a matter of f

I'm purchasing a copy (or rather, my family is) of GalCiv2 from a local software store in the States. I live in Japan, however. Can they tell me the key and I can download it while I wait for my CD to arrive? And is the Collector's Edition going out to stores? Any info appreciated. Thanks!

I've been meaning to make a "Conquer the Galaxy" CD, but now that there's an MP3 player in the bonus pack I guess I won't have to! I'm a big fan of the big, orchestral movie scores, so I'll use the Imperial March and some other Star Wars stuff, a bit of Gladiator and the like. If I feel a bit evil (or rather, communistically oppressive), I'll load up a bunch of old Soviet marches into the player. To break all that symphonic monotony, though, I think I'll play one day with "Highway to the Dang

There might already be a way to do this, but I don't know about it. I'd like the option to import a list of shipnames to automatically be added to ships. It'd be much cooler to automatically have a ship named "Hellstar" than to have to rename Frigate 322 to "Hellstar" EVERY time... ;) ~SDC~
