The new update is very nice, but I have a question about the virtual desktop configuration. By default, java apps are on the exclusion list, which means that they show up on all virtual desktops. I don't like that behavior, and would like to turn it off, but I assume there's a reason you have it set that way. What kind of problems might I run into if I remove java from the exclusion list? <img src="h

If you go to View My Profile to see your characters, and move the mouse over the name of one of your characters, the mouse-over popup says "Click Here For More Information On This Charactor". Aside from the odd capitalization, "Charactor" should be "Character".

how do you get higher, like to veteran? You get into the beta program early enough to make a sustained contribution, diligently report bugs with enough information to help the developers, make helpful posts to the forums, and kill 3 Yor a day. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"

In case not everyone has found out, the gamma is available for Diplomats and Ambassadors, and Frogboy has asked that gamma bug reports be put in the council forums. If you're looking at these forums on www.galciv2.com, look to the left where you have the Home, Downloads, Purchase, etc buttons, and if you're in the gamma you'll see a "Council" button on the bottom of that list. Use that to get to the council forums.

I agree the UI for managing fleets needs work. I've reported similar problems where when you remove one ship from a fleet and move that ship, the fleet remains selected. In fact I've sent in a screen shot where both the fleet and the moved ship show as "selected" (with the dashed blue circle around them). And I've also sent in a saved game exhibiting a problem where a fleet of 1 ship cannot be combined with any other ship to form a larger fleet.</fo

The point I am making is a narrow one - that war by itself does not stimulate the economy. The people hired to produce armaments are employed by the government, whether directly, or indirectly as contractors or subcontractors. The government has to finance this by raising taxes, inflating the currency, or raising debt, none of which is good for the economy. Economics is the science of allocation of scarce resources. The material used to p

I believe from my experience in watching fleet battles that the least powerful armed ship is targeted first, working up to the most powerful, with unarmed ships (like transports) coming last.

I reported the not-disappearing Pirate ship in open space earlier and send it a screen shot, and if I recall correctly, a saved game to help Stardock debug it. I haven't seen a Pirate ship on top of a planet, however. Do you have a saved game that will demonstrate the problem? If so, you could send it to [email protected].

If GC2 had multiplayer I would never use it as I never play games online as I prefer to play against AI so I can play a long epic game in my own time and be able to take a 30 minute break if my son starts crying or im hungry My feelings exactly.

The assumption that the economy is stimulated by a war arises, I suspect, from the kind of discredited Keynesian thinking that, for example, posits that the government can increase employment and stimulate the economy by hiring people to dig holes in the ground and then fill them in again. The fact of the matter is that war-stimulated economic activity is largely non-productive, with exceptions like enhanced technological innovation. The myth is that
