Yea I got bored of this game when I realize the ai isn't what I hoped it to be.. Its still less dumb then the civ games... Theres just to much scripting that has to be done... Also, they got the wrong idea by giving the player way too many options, you can ally with with just about anyone or you can get someone to attack another and the list goes on and on of things you can do providing zero challenge to the good player!
Starcraftstrategist1
Tech trading in general makes the game to easy, as the ai doesn't take advantage of this concept as much as a player can..I usually just have it turned off so this strategy wouldn't apply to me!
I just played drengin seems research and economy is so slow and they don't have many good starting techs that give a boost, I think the way to go is to just focus on military then extort money, after that take over minor races and conquer.. However, this style doesn't seem to suit me very well as I always like researching the strongest techs or making a good economy before even building military. They're kinda like a zergling or zealot rush in starcraft, if they don't succeed taking other in
I swear on this they're double-crossing sly foxes... In the last 3/5 games they immediately declared war against me and somehow got everyone to side with him. The 4th game I played he was my ally and owned like 40% of the land while I owned like 1% while terran the enemy owned the rest, and guess what all he does is just sit there and watch and does nothing even though hes hostile with terran, and I can't even tell him to attack terran...Whats even more surprising about 30 minutes later they
The alliance part is just plain dumb why can't they just have locked teams from the start.
I hate alliances in this game so flawed.. I can't get my ally to attack the last remaining enemy and I'm drath.. Maybe its just altarians and terran have something in common or terrans high diplomacy, these 2 races always end up being the last remaining while the evil races always get whooped!
I know thalans get different techs depending on their alignment are there any other races like this?
Actually the ai does cheat even on tough category because they seem to know the fog of war so your chances of colonizing a planet that is around the same distance apart from each other is next to none!
The game isn't that hard to grasp I've been playing for about 3 days and I can win in tough category.. The idea is maintaining a cash flow in your economy so it doesn't go in the negative, so you would wanna invest in economic improvements early on, they've low maintainance costs and generate income better, also super progects, trade goods and the one per planet improvements that benefit you are also very important as they have little to none maintainance costs, the ones with the highest main
Well starcraft basicly pioneered the rts genre I still have more fun in starcraft or even space rangers then gal civ 2, which is ia deep game with a steep learning curve but once you get pass that is not very fun at all. Perhaps its lacking a multiplayer function or the action is just too slow many flaws and bugs that limit a players enjoyment, I can't count how many times the turn button gone missing even with the newest patch.
I've found their race to be the easiest and most confortable race to use.. Since I do not like managing more then 2 if hardly 1 planet, the thalans fit this category as they only start out with 1 planet early on and its a class 15 planet, I can build like crazy.. On another note, the krynn are probably my least favorite race as I do not exactly know what roles does espionage take, and tech stealing doesn't seem to be that great..
Yes 3 days into the game and I've already found this surrendering thing quite absurd.. It makes for what would've been a fun game a dumb game where its usually the terran or the altarian race allied with everyone and dominating. Another nuissance is when you start a war with someone and the minor races start giving you their little toys to aid you...Like what good would 5hp fleets with laser III do when you already have plasma weapons and large hulls and considering how faraway their sh
The metaverse in my opinion, even though I'm only (3days into the game) is an excuse for lack of multiplayer option, correct me if I'm wrong that what it seems to me.
What exactly does the CPU usage do in the options for ai? The description is yet again very vague like most of everything in the game...
I thought you would either have to have close, friendly or warm relations before you can set alliances, looks like I missed something very obvious there..
Thats the problem I seem to run into so many times not just for the yor who have poor diplomacy but any of the evil races, in a game with alliances set on they don't ally or seem to have much relations with anyone If you play with evil races don't put terran or altarian these 2 races really unbalance the game since terran gets everyone to ally him and altarian gets everyone to gang up on the evil races so they are wiped out very early..
I usually research everything that gives to abilities, diplomacy is also very important since I use it to swap every tech I can get my hands on and I use alot of it on the minor races since they are not a threat to me. What surprises me though is the a.i is amazingly fast in the tech tree even when they don't seem to tech broker much.. I wonder how often or at all if they tech trade with other ai's..
I think you probably missed the event where the plaugue hits everyone.... That is the only thing I can think of that would make your homeworld drop from 12 b to 1.25 b without getting attacked aside from having very low approval rating.
Well I've played the game for 3 days but I spotted some cons tthat I disliked about this game which I would like to see changed in Gal 3. 1. Battles are way to slow can take and eternity to get from one place to another, I understand this is what the games suppose to be like so I'm not hoping much here.. 2. Its hard to see things especially the ships, everything looks cluttered up, when enemies attack most of the time I don't \ know where they popped from....</p
Hmm I pretty much a newbie myself I had no idea you could steal techs with the espionage ability I thought they were just used for spying..
