Very interesting Volt. It reminds me of some additional races I'm thinking of doing for my 'The Legions' mod. These are- The Xyphos Hegemony- little is known of the Xyphos Hegemony, but it is believed by the Ancients of Zol (another race) that they created the Necros Mechanicum. The Sanguinus (SANG-GWEEN-US) Empire- essentially space vampires :) The Necros Mechanicum- these are the killer-destructo-robots of the mod The Empire

HALLELUJAH (not sure if spelled right :) ) =D we have weapons turrets!! Also, xtheneth, you could probably do Sharks with an ability ON THE SQUAD because in Entrenchment you can stick an ability on the squad's entity file. You can check the Advent minelayer squad file for this, as it has an ability to convert the squad into mines.
yeah, it says in the docs for Forge Tools that the Sins engine can handle 3 or 4 sides polygons.
hey, I've opened up a couple of the mesh files from the Forge Tools 3 (yes I know they won't work in the current game builds), and the ones shipped with the game. They're all in Binary format. So here's my question- Does the ConvertXSI tool convert the xsi model into a TXT version of a mesh file?
what map did you see this on? While I've seen some pics of overlapping gravity wells, and this very funny pic of 2 colliding planets, I wonder if you can overlap a pair of gravity wells so that- a. no need for phase-space travelling between them, since they overlap b. overlap them so that one is at an alternate altitude (height) in relation to the other.
well, an un-upgraded starbase costs about the same as a basic capital ship. But a level 10 cap ship is worth a lot more than you paid for (especially if it's the 1st one you built) when leveled up. The same goes for starbases. They are pretty weak when un-upgraded, so you have to sink a good chunk of your economy into them to get a good return on investment, in terms of protection of a planet, enemy-fleet-killing ability, or trade/production capabilities.
I am working on a mod of my own that will include some Titan-sized ships, with comparable firepower to heavily upgraded SBs. I forget how much fleet supply the Titans are going to consumed, but there are also ships called Mobile Star Forts (MSFs). The MSF is essentially a somewhat-slow-moving, massively armored, shielded, and armed warship, that consumes 200 fleet supply points, and is usable in a multitude of different roles. The 'Titans' however, are massive, extremely expen
that is something I think is a very key thing they should do. Sure, you can ping an enemy world and basically tell the AI allies you have to destroy it, but that's it. You should be able to request resources, and all sorts of stuff.
yeah, sorry for going off on a tangent, but I think that EVERYONE'S (emphasis) info should be accurate. I think it's awesome that your mod thread has already got 4 whole pages, plus another that'll probably rapidly fill up.
how much fleet supply are the Titan's planned to consume? The current max on the vanilla races is 2000 supply points (across the board). I suggest Titans consume 200 supply points, which is 4x what current caps consume. That way you can still field around around 4 at the largest practicality, and still have a nicely sized, varied fleet.
actually Volt_Cruelerz, DU rounds are very unique. Here's how they work- Yes, the USAF's A-10 Thunderbolt II aka 'Warthog' fires it's DU 30x173mm NATO ammo at supersonic speeds. However, the other thing is that it fires extremely fast (~4200 rpm), and that DU is pyrophoric . It is also self-sharpening. Here's what I mean- upon impact with a hard (like steel or composite ceramics) target, the DU will begin fracturing at the tip, in such a manner that it always r
I don't expand very fast, and a great deal of my economy got funnelled into R&D, so please don't criticize me, as I have only once played with other people, and it was in a comp-stomp. Even then, I had to quit before I could finish due to dinner. And if a planet is fully upgraded in terms of tactical capacity, and also has a High Security Protocol resource on it, then you can actually put 2 Novaliths or Kosturas onto the world. You'll really only be able to put like 1-4 other things there
just on a side note Rez, IF (emphasis, :) ) the 3 cm x 5 km slug is moving EXTREMELY fast, like say 50-60% the speed of light (0.5-0.6c), then the slug will in all likelihood PASS THROUGH (emphasis :) ) the Evacuator, doing minimal damage by impact alone. However, because of the high speed, the slug will likely cause all the air in the Evacuator to, well, evacuate to space, creating a powerful vacuum-cleaner style effect, that attempts to suck everything out through a very tiny hole.
sorry that it got lost in the argument soasertsus. I'll probably start a 'The Sciences of Sins' thread to keep that kind of thing from happening again.
I thought we had gotten over this already, though if you wikipedia it, you'll find Project Orion, which actually aimed to use nukes to propel a spaceship lol. anyways, I do have a bunch of info that I should probably brush up on in reference to a lot of this stuff. But I do agree, getting back on topic is the thing to do right now. also, they don't use Xenon as much due to it's expense. particle cannons also have the potential to knock out electronics, in a w
I actually don't drink anything heavier than soda. That's out of the way, and I also did note that a x100 upgrade would be too much. But like also said, it gets people thinkin' more. I actually didn't know that the upgrade rate was also boosted with that research (my foul-up for not reading the research files). However, a cost decrease would be nice, as the starbases cost MONSTROUS (not yelling, just emphasizing) creds, with metal and crystal somewhat light. Something that decreased t
I don't usually use CAPS LOCK, I just hold down SHIFT. I mostly use it to emphasize things. Also, something I noted in a different thread- someone said Novaliths GENERATED (emphasizing here) a projectile. In context of programming and game operation, this is true. In context of the SCIENCE (again emphasis only), the Novalith is actually fire a nuclear warhead. I didn't think it was important, just thought it was a little odd :).
yeah, a x100 upgrade is a but much, but it does start people thinking 'I can use an Orkulus to massacre enemy structures'. Personally, as I stated before, I never used the Orkulus like that. It justed seemed an overally expensive thing to do. But with a speed upgrade, it would be nice. Something that could also reduce Health/Weapon upgrades COSTS when doing so in an enemy grav well would also be useful. Not a super-low-cost thing, but maybe decreasing cost by 20-30%.
good by me.
1st off, I NEVER SAID THAT ION CANNONS ARE PLASMA CANNONS. Volt did. Not me. So don't blame me for that. Yes, I sometimes come off as arrogant. that's I problem THAT I HAVE. I'm working on that though. As for the Ion Cannons, I am sorry for being unresearched on that. I thought that they energized the ions similar to the way a plasma weapon creates a plasma; I was wrong and Ion Cannons are actually particle beams. My bad. Lord_Tirian, while the same force may in fact drive the
perhaps a research that allows it to upgrade 100 times faster in enemy gravity wells? similar to the 'build faster in enemy territory research' that the Vasari have?
well, I should clarify what advances I've got. My research- FULLY COMPLETED ALL MILITARY RESEARCH; almost all the defense, and working on the civilian. Fleet- I had the 5th/6th fleet supply research; 7th cap ship research. And I had an SB on almost all worlds, plus a couple of neutrals. And 3 Novaliths whips 10 Deliverance Engines easy.
Like I said before, the Orkulus is just to EXPENSIVE to be effective for bunker-busting. I have NEVER used the Orkulus as a bunker-buster; I just get a big fleet with a good variety and go and punish the enemy SB until it's destroyed. As the TEC however, I tend to use a goodly number of Ogrovs. They are just so FRIGGIN' POWERFUL AGAINST SBs!! And the nuke-explosion effect for their torpedo impacts is just AWESOME. While I don't know if a new ability would be too spammy, improving the Vulkoras
why you cryin' man? You aren't a HIPPY are you? (begins laughing in extremely low voice in a maniacal fashion)
the Vasari need one because while the Orkulus does do it in an ACCEPTABLE fashion, it is by no means OPTIMAL. They are just to FREAKING EXPENSIVE to be useful. I will concede an ENTIRELY new bunker-buster isn't necessarily needed, but something like a new anti-structure ability for the Assailants would be good.
