Now I am not sure about the racial abilities however. Can we mod in things like that? Like can we create a race, which has certain amount of resistance vs. fire based spells? I am pretty sure that we will be able to do that also.
I am quite sure that you will be able to do that, and much, much more. I don't think that the game will be less moddable than Civ4 and in that game, you could do a LOT more, like Rhye's Rise and Fall o

Awesome! Watching the video made the game come alive like never before in my mind. I can't wait to play the game!
Yes, since we now know that there will only be humans as a playable race, I really hope that they add the other races in an expansion. And hope that not having elves, orcs, goblins and the like will not detract from the gameplay. Or that we have great modders who can add the said races and have them accepted as Canon. I am really excited about the modding possibilities this game is likely to offer :)
No, I doubt that it will - continuous character customization is a prerequisite to satisfying my RPG instincts (and of many others, I think) [e digicons][/e]
I also think that we should be able to customize our Sovereign at the very least, and possibly heroes as well. No customization will detract a lot from roleplaying, I am afraid.
Oh no! That doesn't happen in AOW! As complex as the game is, auto-fight is still quite faithful to the way players would act... I guess they spent a lot of time fine tuning that, it was worth the trouble though, give it a try. Still, there's only so far an AI can go. It's the entire reason why we play against other humans, AIs just aren't up to snuff. There is no way an auto-resolve would make all the same decisions I'd make in a given

I know your response was directed towards the OP, but I also tried to run the game at 1024X768, the save button is still grayed out. [link="http://pastebin.com/m2fa14ae3"]Debug.err[/link] I think I will try re-installing it. Is there anything else I could try? EDIT: I am using v0.23.

I like the idea of the "death of the Sovereign ends game" being optional, but the AI will have to be programmed to value and use it radically differently in the above two situations. Slightly off-topic, in AoW2 (and SM), the death of your wizard also had an unforeseen benefit to the opponent - if the hero killed the wizard, he could gain 3-5 levels the next turn. It could be quite a boost to the hero :D (and abused against the AI too [e digicons][/e] )
I was thinking more specifically from MoM where you Wizard doesn't die permanently as long as you have a Wizard Tower in a city. If you're defeated in battle your Wizard retreats to his next Wizard Tower via spell until all his cities with Wizard Towers are destroyed.
This is exactly what happens in AoW2 as well - as long as you have a city with a wizard tower left, your "wizard" simply shifted to a new wizard tower upon being defea
I overheard a couple of the programmers talking about adding IPoAC game play. Not sure how they'll combat the latency issues, though.
[e digicons]:moo:[/e] Joke, right?
Yes, I also wouldn't want the game to just end when the Sovereign is defeated. On the other hand, there must be a reasonable cost to having your Sovereign defeated (unlike AoW2) and also finally killing the Sovereign shouldn't be too tedious or just a mop-up operation.
How is PBEM going to work with tactical combat?
No tactical combat when fighting against another human, but full tactical battles against the AI - that's how it works in AoW, so I think that it will be the same here, if implemented.
I am facing the exact same issue, although I have not tried re-installing the game. [link="http://pastebin.com/fb21e411"]Debug.err[/link]
That's actually the full game, mwhahaha we fooled you!!
Lol, I doubt if I can be fooled after reading "the beta won't be fun" about ten times! Well, it is not fun, but that's not what I pre-ordered it for :)
Pre-ordered it about 12 hours ago. Just downloaded and managed to start the game, but I still have to figure out how to play it [e digicons][/e] Probably the first game I ever pre-ordered!
I have read about this kind of problem when there is a problem with the Visual C++ redistrubutable or something. I think I read about it in the EU Rome forums.
I don't think that that happens in most strategy games. I have seen it in many FPS games, of course.
