Thanks Komarino, but I tried that and it didn't help. Anyway, the problem is now fixed. Werewolf's message reminded me of something I hadn't even thought of -- that the theme I had downloaded had not only requested installion of Logon Studio, but actually changed my Logon screen in the process. So it appears I uninstalled LS prematurely; I therefore reinstalled LS, restored my default XP logon screen, and now it's working the way it used to. Apparently, when you get the logon screen

Please allow me to clarify something in my earlier message. When I say I tried uninstalling Logon Studio to no avail, I mean to say that I was able to uninstall it, but it made no difference in my inability to shut down XP. Sorry if that was confusing!

Hi all. I D/L'ed and installed Object Desktop 2 days ago, and it has never worked right for me. However, I know it seems to work fine for lots of people, so I'm not going to sit here and slam it. Rather, I'm just going to ask for your help.
