As usual, people who don't quite know the WHOLE story are posting their opinions. What happens if you replace the res image in the kernal with a new res image that uses the same pal and 16 colors? BootXP does this for you with one mouse click. By the way, even with a bad NTOSKRNL.EXE file, Windows XP is able to boot into "safe mode" (kinda tells you how important that file is, huh?)

However, there are others who may find, as I have, that this is a way of customizing, or rather "personalizing", one's machine. And, my boot screen looks nice. You use a program to change the boot screen to the one you want. I am currently using BootXP to do this, but I would imagine there are other programs available on the 'net to do the same thing. You use BootXP to choose an image file and click a button and BootXP sets the image file as your new boot screen - easy as that. You can even change the position of the scrolling progress bar. I found BootXP at www.bootxp.net. ArtUproar, deskMod, and DeviantArt all have a section for boot screens,
No, no, a logon is the screen that lets you "logon" to the computer. An XP boot screen is the screen that shows up BEFORE the logon screen and it usually says "Microsoft Windows..." and has the scrolling blue progress bar. The XP boot screen is what I think many people will want to change once they see how easy it is. I cannot find a section for XP boot screens on WinCustomize.
Surfing the 'net without a virus checker is kinda like driving a car while blindfolded. If you get in a wreck, it's your own fault.
Why not add a section to feature XP boot screens. This would, IMHO, be the ultimate addition to customizing Windows XP. BootXP is a great tool for changing the XP boot screen on your computer - I would imagine there are other tools available as well.
