The bug appears to be gone while in windowed mode only. I think elemental have some serious problems with refreshing its UI because I had similar problems with missing images in info cards...

Interestingly enough the bug appears to be fixed on my system, as I can see images in info cards even in full screen mode. [e digicons]|-)[/e]

I atacked enemy town that was guarded by a single guard and enemy sovereign that was also placed at the same town tile but the battle was waged only against the guard and therefore town was captured. After that both my and enemy sovereign was placed at the same town tile as you can see here: dxdiag debug.err</
